The Gundam Legilis faces down Sid, and Zeheart concludes that the EXA-DB must be nearby. Sid starts firing multiple beam cannons at the Gundam Legilis, but Zeheart dodges them. On the Fa Zard, Leil explains to Fram that Sid is the unmanned guardian of the EXA-DB that uses the power of the EXA-DB to grow. Fram calls Zeheart and asks him to come back, but he insists that he’ll defeat Sid. He says he’s been given this trial, so if he can’t defeat Sid then he’s not worthy of carrying on Ezelcant’s will. Zeheart rushes in to attack, but he’s forced to dodge more fire from Sid. Elsewhere, the Diva picks up several mobile suit signals in a nearby asteroid field. Natora wants to investigate, but Flit says there’s no time because they have to assemble at Nortrum for the attack on La Gramis. The Baronoke picks up the same signal, but Asemu knows it’s Sid. He recalls the mission 13 years earlier when he was searching a debris field in the AGE-2 Normal to find his ship’s mysterious attacker. He detected Sid and was forced to hide inside ship wreckage to dodge its attacks. He detected an allied unit, but it was just the wreckage of a destroyed Adele. Asemu then moved out of hiding, but in a single attack Sid blasted the AGE-2 Normal to pieces. Later, Bisidian found the injured Asemu inside the wrecked AGE-2 Normal. Asemu orders the ship to change course so they can destroy the EXA-DB. Raddock asks if they’re going to tell the Diva, but Asemu thinks to himself that in his current state Flit is no better than the Vagan now. Natora wonders if the Baronoke is heading for the asteroid field, but Flit doesn’t care. Kio helps Wootbit with maintenance on the AGE-FX and gets a call from Asemu on the AGE device. Asemu tells Kio that he has to attend to something and will catch up to them soon. He asks Kio to take care of Flit, but Kio thinks it’s pointless because Flit won’t listen to him. Asemu tells Kio that it’s not easy to change people’s minds, but that doesn’t make it pointless to talk. Zeheart hides behind an asteroid to catch his breath and is forced to move quickly when Sid attacks again. Zeheart thinks about Ezelcant’s plan and how he fought for humanity’s future. Zeheart deploys his bits and uses them to create an energy barrier around the Gundam Legilis that blocks Sid’s attacks.
Zeheart dodges more of Sid’s attacks, but he’s unable to counterattack when Sid cloaks itself. Sid then reappears below Zeheart and opens fire, placing him on defensive again. Fram asks how Sid could use the invisible umbrella, so Leil explains that the technology originated from the EXA-DB. Fram wants to launch in the Fawn Farsia to be a shield for Zeheart, but Leil tells her that Zeheart would never allow that. Sid then comes under fire from Asemu’s AGE-2 Dark Hound and two G-Exes Jackedges. Asemu recognizes Sid and orders his men to search for the EXA-DB. Zeheart blocks Asemu’s path and declares that this is his own battle because he’s being tested as Ezelcant’s successor. He warns Asemu to leave the area, but Asemu transforms and rushes in to attack Sid. He says that he’s fought Sid before and remembers its patterns, so he wants Zeheart to escape. Sid vanishes again and reappears in front of an asteroid, which Asemu presumes must be the location of the EXA-DB. Sid opens fire and destroys both of the G-Exes Jackedges and returns to attacking Asemu and Zeheart. Asemu thinks that they’ll never catch Sid like this, so he fires his wire hooks and grapples onto Sid before it vanishes again. Sid moves quickly and swings Asemu around, and Asemu tells Zeheart to fire at the end of the wires. Zeheart starts shooting at Sid as Asemu’s wires break, and he uses his beam sabers to stab Sid and destroy it. Leil comments that Zeheart has made the Gundam Legilis his own. Asemu rushes into the asteroid and finds the EXA-DB at its core. Zeheart attacks Asemu with a beam saber and says he can’t let him destroy the EXA-DB. Asemu states that the EXA-DB should be removed from the world because it will create more monsters like Sid. Zeheart says that while the EXA-DB might be a cursed power, he’ll master it and use it for humanity’s future. Asemu pushes Zeheart out of the asteroid as the Baronoke opens fire on it with its beam cannons. Raddock fired as per Asemu’s orders and hopes he escaped in time. Zeheart flies away and regrets losing the power of the EXA-DB, but is happy that he gained the power of the Gundam Legilis. In the debris field, the core of Sid clutches onto the still active remains of the EXA-DB.
After being dropped for multiple episodes due to the Mars arc and Moon battle, the EXA-DB finally returns to the forefront. Zeheart has become completely delusional and is convinced that fighting Sid is a test to examine his worthiness as Ezelcant’s successor. This change of character really makes zero sense for him. The commander who cares about his subordinates has been replaced by a madman who thinks that he’s carrying out the will of God for the sake of humanity. I know that he blindly worships Ezelcant, but to still do so even after learning the truth of Project Eden is nonsensical. At the same time, Fram has been reduced to nothing more than a fangirl who is in love with Zeheart and constantly frets over him. I suspect this attitude will probably get her killed before the end of the series. Thankfully, Kio’s screen time in this episode is mercifully brief, and we’re not subjected to more of his babbling about understanding. We see a brief flashback with the old Woolf-colored AGE-2 Normal that presumably covers some of the events from Remembrance of Sid. Sid was definitely a monster of a machine and kept both Zeheart and Asemu on their toes. Unfortunately, they didn’t get the job done because both it and the EXA-DB survived. The question is, what kind of beast will it evolve into now?
