Summary

May visits Magee at his bar and brings him up to speed on the Story mission. She doesn’t feel comfortable in the mission, and Magee explains that the administration is of no help yet because there are so many missions in GBN. Magee says that more information would help narrow the search, and May leaves to meet up with the rest of the team. In the lobby, she finds Hiroto and Kazami waiting, but Parviz isn’t there yet. May notes that they can’t start the Story mission without all four of them there, and Hiroto remembers the end of his conversation with Parviz earlier. Parviz then shows up and tells everyone that he wants to leave the team. Kazami tries to convince him not to leave, and Parviz says he doesn’t want to be a bother to everyone any longer. Kazami responds that it’d be more of a bother if he left, and May notes that they’re not allowed to change party members, so all their progress up to now would be lost. Parviz insists that he can’t go on, and May says that if they fail the mission, the team would break up anyway. Hiroto suggests that Parviz wait at Freddie’s village, but Parviz says that’s not the point. However, all four of them are suddenly transported to the temple and find Freddie waiting for them. When Freddie hears that Parviz is quitting, he begs them to help and not abandon his village. At the village, Jed shows the Build Divers the handheld beam weapons that the Resistance excavated, and Kazami notes that they’re not Gundam-like. Zabun and Calico mess around with one of the rifles and accidentally blast a hole in the roof of of the hut, which they laugh off. Jed notices that the Build Divers are fewer in number, and Hiroto quickly changes the subject to going over the battle plan again. Maiya catches Stola eavesdropping again and tells him that Jiric wants their help weeding the field. She then leaves when she sees the Build Divers emerging from the hut. May asks what they’re going to do because they’ll have to reconfigure their formation without Parviz. Hiroto walks off and says he’ll be back. Parviz addresses the Valkylander as Morgiana and apologizes for his failures to use it properly. Hiroto shows up and says that he came to see the sky. Parviz mentions that it must be weird to talk to a Gunpla, but Hiroto thinks that lots of people do it, and he believes that Gunpla can feel happy and sad like people. Parviz is surprised to hear this from Hiroto, and Hiroto responds that he didn’t expect he would come to believe it, but someone taught it to him. Parviz thinks that if the Valkylander does have feelings, it must believe that he’s pathetic because he can’t let it reach its potential. Hiroto says that Gunpla do watch over them, and if there’s a sincere wish in their heart, the Gunpla will respond. Calico and Zabun tell Hiroto that it’s almost time for the mission, and Hiroto asks Parviz to escort their car.

The Build Divers hide their units in a trench near the One-Eyes base, and Kazami is annoyed to have Freddie sharing his cockpit. Jed is shocked to discover that Freddie is in there, but it’s too late for him to get it. The Build Divers approach the base and are confronted by an Eldora Brute, which opens fire on the Justice Knight. May’s Wodom Pod fires missiles at the barrier, but they’re ineffective. Kazami charges in to attack the Brute and is knocked aside. It then fires at them and at Jed’s car, but Parviz protects them. Flames spew out of holes and damage the Justice Knight, and the Brute targets Kazami. Hiroto fires from above in the Veetwo Gundam and tells Kazami that he advanced too far ahead. Jed, Zabun and Calico break into the enemy base while Parviz stands guard outside. Hiroto is knocked away by the Brute, and another emerges from the ground, which makes Parviz nervous. Jed’s team plants explosives throughout the enemy base. Outside, everyone has a tough time against the two Brutes. Calico and Zabun slip while trying to plant explosives, which sets off the timer early. Jed sees new models have been produced, and Zabun and Calico tell him they have to escape immediately. Hiroto says there’s no need to destroy the Brutes, only to hold out long enough until the base is destroyed. The base then explodes, but multiple Eldora Air Brutes launch from the ground and start bombarding the Build Divers. Jed asks them to do something before they get to the village, and Parviz screams out in anger. Hiroto initiates a core change and reequips from the Veetwo Gundam to the Earthree Gundam so that he can attack the Air Brutes. Parviz tries attacking the Air Brutes and is knocked aside by one of the Brutes. He doesn’t want to fall again and asks Morgiana to lend him power and fly with him. Parviz’s cockpit glows, and the Valkylander spreads its wings and flies out of the flame hole. Parviz then uses several attacks to take out the Air Brutes. Parviz then initiates Dragon Fusion and transforms the Valkylander into a humanoid SD form. Parviz slices apart one of the Brutes, and Hiroto switches back to the Veetwo Gundam to destroy the other. Afterward, Hiroto looks over the transformed Valkylander and sees that it’s based off a Gundlander. Parviz asks if that’s weird, and Hiroto answers that his passion is evident, which is why it responded to him. Kazami is surprised that Parviz took the spotlight and asks if the talk of quitting was just a dramatic build up to this moment. May asks Parviz if he’s going to quit the Story mission, and he answers that he’s going to stay. Hiroto goes home and finds Hinata eavesdropping on his parents. Hinata asks Hiroto about GBN, and even though he doesn’t answer, she sees a smile on his face.

Commentary

Much of this episode focuses on Parviz being in a beginner’s slump that leads him to want to quit the team because he sees himself as a burden to the others. However, a talk from Hiroto about Gunpla’s feelings finally turns things around with him, and when confronted with danger he’s finally able to let the Valkylander reach its potential, which includes a humanoid SD mode. The One-Eyes debuted a new model this episode, which keeps building on the Death Army theme from G Gundam. This episode also features another cameo from Magee, and there is definitely some mystery around this mission if the administration can’t easily determine what it’s about.
