A Gundam Virtue fires at the Sengoku Astray, but Nils cuts the beam apart with his swords, which can match the band of the beams. The Gundam Virtue then deploys its GN field, but Nils cuts through it and slices the suit apart. Sei is impressed and wonders how Nils built his Gunpla. Baker approaches Nils in the hallway and asks to speak with him. At the PPSE headquarters, Baker tells Nils that the company wants to become his personal sponsor and give him a support team. However, Nils notes that Yajima Trading is already his sponsor and asks why they would want him when they already have Kawaguchi. Baker explains that Mashita wants to sponsor top players to spread Gunpla Battle further. She adds that they’d ask for nothing in return, which makes him suspicious why she’s so eager. Nils accepts the sponsorship but declines assistance because the Sengoku Astray is already perfect. Instead, he asks for a tour of the Plavsky particle factory, but Baker is hesitant and says the tour should wait until after the quarterfinals. Baker realizes that Nils entered the tournament to learn the secret of Plavsky particles, but the factory is off limits. Nils recalls what he overheard Mashita saying about a boy discovering his secret, so he presumes the “boy’ must be his next opponent: Sei or Reiji. He deduces that Mashita must want them defeated before learning the secret. Caroline tries to sneak up behind Nils, but he grabs her. He asks why she’s there, and she says that she’s come to see her boyfriend. Since he accepted her father’s sponsorship and her father’s things are her things, that makes Nils hers. Nils tries to disagree, but he’s overcome by her forceful personality. Kirara meets Fellini in a bar and mentions the upcoming fight between Reiji and Nils. Fellini notes that Nils hasn’t shown his true strength yet. She asks who’s going to win, and Fellini answers that it’s whoever has the strongest feelings. Sei and Reiji meet Nils at his request, although Sei is worried about someone seeing them and getting the wrong idea. Nils asks them directly if they know the secret of the Plavsky particle, but they don’t. He believes one of them knows the secret, even if they can’t remember. He then offers to withdraw from the battle if they tell him the secret. Nils reveals that he only entered the tournament to learn the secret of the Plavsky particle, which upsets Sei. Nils dismisses the game as a battle of toys, and Sei yells at him that the arena is for Gunpla Battle. Reiji steps in and tells Nils that if he wants something, he should win it himself in the battle tomorrow. Nils boasts that he’s strong, but Sei and Reiji proclaim that they’re going to win.
The next morning, the battle begins outside a Japanese castle. The Star Build Strike lands atop the tower where the Sengoku Astray is waiting. Reiji opens fire to test Nils’ ability to cut beams. Since beam weapons are of no use, Reiji ejects every weapon while Sei activates the RG system. Nils sees that they made the right choice, but he insists that he’s going to win. He rushes forward and attacks with his katanas, which Reiji barely dodges. Reiji then counters with the Build Knuckle, which destroys both katanas. Reiji attacks again, but Nils blocks and destroys the Star Build Strike’s right forearm. Fellini sees that this is the same move that beat Greco, which Nils describes as particle fa jin. Rinko asks what that is, and Ral explains that it’s a Chinese martial art where you send your chi energy into your opponent’s body to destroy them from within. Ral thinks that Nils is using Plavsky particles in place of chi, and the Meijin finds it odd that Nils would give his Gunpla a Japanese name but use Chinese martial arts. Nils boasts again about being strong, but his right arm suddenly explodes in a delayed reaction from the Build Knuckle attack. Reiji attacks with the Build Knuckle again, which Nils blocks with the particle fa jin. The resulting explosion destroys both their remaining arms, so Baker interveners with a one-minute break for emergency repairs. Nils’ hands shake with anger from his Gunpla being damaged. China cheers for Sei in the audience, while Caroline cheers for Nils. When the time runs out, Sei finishes at the last second so that Reiji can rejoin the battle. Nils proclaims that he’ll win, but Reiji counters that he’s going to lose. The two repeat their attacks, but this time the Build Knuckle beats the fa jin. Nils sees that the Star Build Strike’s right arm is coated with instant glue, so his particles couldn’t get through. Reiji and Nils start punching each other again, but Reiji dodges and uses the Build Knuckle to deliver the final punch and destroy the Sengoku Astray. Nils vows to win the next time they fight, and Reiji sees that Nils got caught up in the fight and enjoyed it. Sei apologizes for what he said earlier and offers to help him. Nils then apologizes to Caroline for losing, but she tells him he was great. He then says he was caught up in the Plavsky mystery and didn’t realize he liked Gunpla. Caroline adds that her father’s company will keep supporting him, as will she.
The quarterfinals continue with the long-awaited confrontation between Nils and Reiji. After easily beating his opponents and constantly boasting of his skills, it’s not enough to beat Reiji. However, Nils is correct in guessing that Sei or Reiji know the secret of Plavsky, even though Reiji doesn’t know that he knows it. The classic trope is on display here where Nils insists that he isn’t interested in Gunpla, but in the heat of battle he discovers that he does. This episode is loaded with Gundam 00 character cameos, including an obscure one that’s a double joke. Nils’ opponent in the Gundam Virtue is the Tieria Erde stand-in from the Celestial Being movie within the 00 movie. Baker’s really determined to have Reiji lose like Mashita wants, but unfortunately her plans fail again. At this rate, it’ll take an extraordinary intervention beyond even C to stop Reiji. Of course, the more they interfere, the stronger it makes Reiji’s resolve, which is pretty self-defeating for Mashita.
