The Try Fighters enter the space colony, and Yuuma scans the interior for signs of the enemy, but doesn’t find anything. He prepares the Lightning Gundam Fb‘s rifle for sniping and targets the cargo entrance they just used while Fumina and Sekai head the entrance at the opposite end. Wilfrid sees that the Try Fighters chose to fight inside the colony, which Shia presumes is because Sekai can fight better under gravity. Saga asks what the plan is, and Wilfrid answers that they’ll each fight fairly and not use cheap tricks. Ral notes the battle’s quiet start, and the Meijin wonders if this is the calm before the storm. The Transient Gundam blasts through one entrance and uses its GN partisan to destroy surrounding buildings and expose the Try Burning and Star Winning. Yuuma fires his rifle when the G-Portent opens the cargo door, but Shia is protected by a GN field. In space, Gundam The End blasts into the colony and forces Yuuma to fall back. Sekai asks Fumina to support Yuuma while he uses a Soten Guren-Ken against Wilfrid. Wilfrid sees that Sekai has increased in speed and had his machine tuned in just two days. Dr. Mikawa approaches Allan and tells him to stop the battle right now because of Saga’s right hand. Saga deploys his fangs against Yuuma, and Allan asks him why he hid the fact that his wrist wasn’t healed. Yuuma uses his speed to outrun the fangs and conducts a sweep with his beam rifle to destroy them. He then fires at Gundam The End, but its chest opens and swallows the beam. Yuuma then comes under fire from Shia, who in turn is attacked by Fumina. Fumina engages Shia with her funnels and transforms to real mode, while Sekai activates the burst system and unleashes the phoenix attack. Six simultaneous attacks from both teams hit each other at the same time and destroy the colony, leaving several ruined fragments. After the smoke clears, Sekai and Wilfrid find themselves inside the colony’s asteroid mining area.
Shia uses her repair bots to help Saga, but they’re interrupted by the arrival of Fumina and Yuuma. Sekai uses a Shippu-Zuki attack that Wilfrid blocks and counters with his GN partisan lance bits. Yuuma moves in to attack Saga at close range and faces a barrage of fangs. Fumina pushes Shia out of the way and loses her SD Core Fighter. Saga destroys one of Yuuma’s rifles, but Yuuma slices into him with a beam saber. Saga uses his pistols and unleashes his secret weapon – a tiny Unicorn Gundam that emerges from the chest and bores into the Lightning Gundam, setting off an explosion. The Lightning Gundam’s main body is destroyed, but the Back Weapon System survives and flies in to rescue Fumina. Sekai is unable to fight the lance bits, and Wilfrid rushes in to attack with both sabers and bits. Sekai remembers the move that Junya used on him and generates a flaming sword to destroy the bits. Yuuma transfers all his particles to Fumina and jokes about what they would say right now if they were in a Gundam show. Saga’s repairs are interrupted again, but Shia tells him he can at least use fangs now. Yuuma thanks Saga for helping him become this strong and attacks with the BWS. Fumina uses a full power attack from the Winning Beam that blasts through space and the mining area. Fumina runs out of power, and both Yuuma and Saga take each other out at close range. Shia rushes in with a beam and stabs Fumina, but the Star Winning manages to move enough to slice through the G-Portent’s GN Drive, thus taking out both units. Wilfrid unleashes the Transient Burst for high speed attacks on Sekai, but the battle is interrupted for going over the time limit. Mirai announces that after a three minute interval, they’ll go into an overtime battle. Dr. Mikawa looks at Saga’s wrist, and Saga apologizes to Wilfrid for keeping it a secret. Since the rules only allow repairs with parts used in battle, Shia gives her remaining weapons to Wilfrid. Yuuma anticipated that this would happen and remodeled all three Gunpla so that they could share parts. The repaired Try Burning uses parts from both the Lightning Gundam and Star Winning to form a complete unit. The battle resumes in a desert stage, and Wilfrid can’t believe he got to fight such a great battle. Wilfrid and Sekai attack each other at close range with physical attacks. Both activate their burst systems and charge toward each other with their attacks. Sekai uses Fumina’s Plavsky Gate to charge a phoenix attack that’s met by Wilfrid’s lion. The battle moves to space and sets off a massive explosion. Yuuma remembers that Sei had sent along a message saying he wanted to battle with Sekai someday. The Try Burning emerges from the battle more intact, thus winning the match for the Try Fighters.
The series’ penultimate episode is essentially the end (for the main storyline). The Try Fighters face off against Celestial Sphere, and it’s a foregone conclusion that the Try Fighters will come out on top. The previous episode and this one both wasted time building up that Saga’s wrist would be a problem, but it didn’t factor into the fight in the slightest, so why even bother with the fake tension? The battle splits off in the expected three directions with everyone fighting against their rival, but for the most part nobody does anything we haven’t seen before in previous episodes. About the only different thing in this battle was Saga’s weird mini Unicorn gimmick, which was certainly effective. However, in the end, despite the team focus it came down to a one-on-one battle between Wilfrid and Sekai’s patchwork Franken Gundam. Even then, this final showdown wasn’t quite so compelling because a lot of it was streaks of blue and orange zooming around followed by a large explosion. On its own, it’s not the best of series ending fights, but it also can’t compare to the first series when Reiji fought the Meijin. Of course, to be fair to this series, any battle against anyone less than Meijin Kawaguchi was never going to compare. This episode isn’t a terrible finale to the tournament, but it’s disappointing. The series had a higher standard to live up to and didn’t manage to meet it.
