Gundam SEED Phase 25: The Land of Peace

0
Summary

The Buster Gundam fires at the Archangel and damages the ship. The Aegis Gundam, Duel Gundam and Blitz Gundam fly around on Guul sub-flight units and join the attack. Kira attempts to fend off their attacks by having the Strike Gundam stand on the ship’s deck, but his efforts prove ineffective. Yzak dodges missiles from the Archangel and receives a warning from Athrun not to leave formation. Athrun gives them all orders on how to attack the ship, and Nicol fires the lancer darts from his Trikeros shield, which damage the Archangel‘s engine room. Mu attacks Dearka with the Sky Grasper, and Yzak decides to move in and attack Kira on his own. Kira destroys Yzak’s Guul, but Yzak pulls out his beam saber for close combat. Kira jumps into the air and destroys Yzak’s beam saber. He then kicks the Duel Gundam and dodges Yzak’s random railgun shots. Kira flies higher and knocks Nicol off his Guul before destroying it. Kira then fires at Athrun, and as he dodges, Athrun can’t believe how skilled a pilot Kira has become. Nearby, the Orb Aegis class destroyer fleet watches the battle and relays images to the nearby Orb mainland. A news announcement indicates that the Alliance and ZAFT are close to violating Orb’s territorial boundaries. At a council meeting, Orb leader Uzumi Nara Athha decides that they can make no exception to intruders and orders his fleet to intercept. The Orb fleet broadcasts to both the Archangel and ZAFT, ordering them both to withdraw or be fired upon. Cagalli runs onto the bridge and tells Murrue to go straight into Orb’s waters. She grabs the radio from Kuzzey and asks the Orb commander what he’s doing. She identifies herself as Uzumi’s daughter, but he doesn’t believe her and orders his forces to fire. Athrun listens to the transmission and is surprised to hear Cagalli’s voice. Dearka’s Guul is destroyed, but he combines his rifles and fires at the Archangel‘s engines. The damage to the engines causes the ship to crash into the water. The Orb fleet begins firing, and Kisaka assures Murrue that their gunners are very accurate. Athrun moves in to attack, but Orb’s missiles and Heli aircraft block his way.

In the council room, Uzumi asks his staff what nonsense they will come up with to cover what they have done. Elsewhere, the Orb fleet escorts the Archangel to a secret base on Onogoro Island. Kisaka tells Murrue that the base is hidden and cannot be found even with satellites. Murrue asks Kisaka who he really is, and he tells her he’s a member of Orb’s army and Cagalli’s bodyguard. On a Vosgulov class submarine, Yzak slams down the paper with Orb’s official statement saying that the Archangel was chased away. Yzak and Dearka want to attack, but Athrun says they can’t attack a sovereign country because it will cause diplomatic problems. He says he will have Carpentaria place pressure on Orb, and if that doesn’t work they’ll sneak into Orb. Yzak likes the idea and thinks that he might finally get a chance to see the Strike Gundam’s pilot. In the Archangel‘s mess hall, Kuzzey asks Sai if they can leave, and Neumann says they’ll have to stay a while to fix the ship. Kira comes into get some drinks and stops when Miriallia says all their parents are in Orb. Kira takes the drinks to Flay’s room and asks her if she has a home in Orb. She says she does but explains it’s empty since her parents are dead. Nearby, Cagalli’s maid Myrna boards the ship and locates Cagalli. Elsewhere, Murrue, Mu and Natarle meet with Uzumi. Mu asks if they were saved just because Cagalli was on the ship, and Uzumi answers that he’d never weigh his country’s fate against his daughter’s life. Uzumi offers to help repair the Archangel, but in exchange he wants the Strike Gundam’s combat data and wants Kira to assist the researchers at Morgenroete. Myrna walks Cagalli through the halls in a fancy dress, and Flay looks at her with anger in her eyes. Natarle objects to Murrue’s decision, and Mu asks if they should swim to Alaska. Natarle says she will report this decision once they reach Alaska and leaves. Mu pats Murrue on the back, and she tells him that’s sexual harassment. Elsewhere, Kira takes the Strike Gundam to the hidden entrance of Morgenroete. Nearby, Athrun, Yzak, Dearka and Nicol swim to Orb’s shore and meet with spies.

Commentary

Following the pattern so far, this episode features a battle and actually begins in the middle of it, which was quite a surprise. This time the Le Creuset squad actually gets some hits off on the Archangel and manage to damage it pretty heavily. Yzak proves once again that he’s nowhere near the equal to Kira, and he’ll never win despite all his efforts. This time we’re also introduced to Cagalli’s father Uzumi, who is the leader of Orb. This of course makes her a princess and incites some fierce jealousy on Flay’s part. Murrue is forced to make a hard bargain to get Uzumi’s assistance, and yet again Natarle plays things absolutely by-the-book and promises to report to Alaska. The woman really has no common sense since the ship is being attacked by ZAFT and has no hope of being helped by anyone until they reach Alaska. Athrun and his team infiltrate Orb at the end of the episode, and Yzak is out for Kira’s blood once again.
