At the Ptolemaeus base, the N-Jammer Canceler data is examined. Officials want to use it to solve the energy crisis on Earth, but Azrael insists on using it to allow the use of nuclear weapons again. He says that is more important because they have to end the war against the Coordinators in one move. At the same time, nuclear weapons are shipped up from Earth and loaded onto Alliance ships at the Moon base. The Alliance then sends out a fleet to attack Boaz and launches its Moebius and Strike Dagger forces. Boaz responds to the attack by launching its GINN and GuAIZ teams. Yzak’s subordinates ask him how many enemies are attacking and what their orders are. In his office, Patrick is informed of the Alliance attack on Boaz and says that’s not unexpected. Ezalia wonders why the Alliance would attack, and Rau says he has some concerns. He says the Alliance would know how well-defended Boaz is and that they wouldn’t launch an attack without a reason. He says there are many unknown factors in the battle now, including the Freedom Gundam, Justice Gundam and Lacus. Patrick wants to know if he’s suggesting that the Alliance has nuclear weapons again, and Rau says they are only concerns. Elsewhere, the Dominion and a small group of escort ships approach Boaz. The Dominion launches its three Gundams, which proceed to destroy GINNs and GuAIZs with ease. Sutherland calls Natarle to tell her that the Peacemaker divisions are ready for launch. The ships launch several Moebius squads, all of which are armed with nuclear missiles. With the Gundams acting as defense, the Moebiuses approach Boaz and successfully launch their nuclear missiles. In the blink of an eye, Boaz is completely destroyed. Natarle asks Azrael if he feels anything about firing nuclear weapons, and he says he is saving people’s lives on their side. Patrick orders the activation of GENESIS at Jachin Due.
Nearby, the Clyne Faction ships prepare to launch. Kira and Athrun ask Lacus what’s going on, and Andy explains that the Alliance has destroyed Boaz. On the Archangel, Mu tells Murrue it’s not surprising that the Alliance would use nuclear weapons, given what happened at Alaska. He also thinks about what Rau said inside Mendel colony. Kira and Athrun prepare for launch, and Kira asks Athrun if ZAFT will use nuclear weapons too. Athrun says that if his father was in a normal state of mind he wouldn’t, but now he doesn’t know. Elsewhere, the Alliance fleet is re-supplied with more nuclear weapons to attack the PLANTs next. Flay goes into an observation room where Natarle is, and Natarle asks her why she didn’t stay on the Moon base. Flay says that she needs to find Kira and tell him all the things she hasn’t had a chance to say. She says that she didn’t understand everyone’s feelings before. She also says that Rau told her the war would end, and Natarle says it will end once all the enemies are destroyed. At Jachin Due, Ezalia gives a speech to the soldiers to encourage them in their fight against the Alliance. Yzak launches in the Duel Gundam, followed by his GuAIZ squad. Nearby, the ships in the Dominion fleet launch their Peacemaker Moebius divisions. On the Eternal, Kira launches in the Freedom Gundam, followed by Athrun in the Justice Gundam. On the Archangel, Mu launches in the Aile Strike Gundam, followed by Dearka in the Buster Gundam. Kira and Athrun link up their Gundams with the METEOR weapons systems and head for the battlefield. The Moebius units approach the PLANTs and launch their nuclear missiles. Yzak starts to chase after them, but he is attacked by the Raider Gundam. Kira and Athrun unleash a massive barrage of firepower from the METEORs and destroy all the nuclear missiles before they reach the PLANTs. Azrael fires nuclear missiles at them to kill them, but Yzak, Mu and Dearka destroy them. Patrick orders Ezalia to have all the troops retreat so that GENESIS can be fired. The GENESIS gamma laser suddenly appears behind Jachin Due because it was hidden with Mirage Colloid. As GENESIS is about to fire, Yzak warns Athrun and Kira to get out of the way.
As expected, the war reaches a new level of intensity now that the Alliance is using nuclear weapons again. With the use of nuclear weapons, they were easily able to destroy the asteroid fortress Boaz. Naturally, their next target should have been Jachin Due. However, since a genocidal maniac like Azrael is in charge, he wants to exterminate all Coordinators and goes after the PLANTs. Luckily, Kira and Athrun destroy the nuclear missiles with their Dendrobium-styled METEOR units. However, Patrick reveals his ace card, which is the GENESIS laser cannon. This fearsome cannon is equipped with Mirage Colloid, Phase Shift and an N-Jammer Canceler, so it has all the newest technologies gained from mobile suit development. Flay shows a bit of change in her character, so does she regret all that she’s done up to now? Also, Yzak shows some change as well by warning Kira and Athrun to escape from GENESIS’ firing range. What this super weapon will accomplish remains to be seen.
