Gundam: The Origin manga header

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin is a manga series released in Japan from 2001-2011. It is an expanded reinterpretation of the original 1979 TV series Mobile Suit Gundam. Written and illustrated by original series character designer Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, it was serialized in Gundam Ace magazine. This manga retelling reorders events from the TV series and adds new story elements, including a long prequel arc focusing on Char Aznable and the events leading up to the One Year War. The series received an incomplete English release from Viz, followed a decade later by a full release from Vertical. In 2015, the prequel arc was adapted into an OVA series of the same name.
