Gundam ZZ Ep. 33: Afternoon in Dublin

The Argama flies over Europe, and Bright decides to change course and head for Dublin, Ireland. Elle, Shinta and Qum bring dirty laundry to the bridge and ask everyone to pick out what they will throw away. They think that the forests below are beautiful, and Bright explains that for the last century all forests in Europe are artificial like the ones of space colonies. At a Neo Zeon air base, Haman is informed that Arius Moma is guarding a shuttle that is transporting the Psycho Gundam Mk-II. She isn’t happy that there aren’t any suitable pilots for it at the moment. Judau and Ple come to bridge, and he asks why they have changed course to Dublin. He knows Bright’s family is there, and Bright says he wants to know if they’re even alive. Judau pauses for a second and thinks of Leina, and Ple runs away. Nearby, Arius’ shuttle detects the Argama, so he and two of his men launch in Bawoos to attack. Judau chases Ple down to the mobile suit hangar, and she says she knows he wants her to die. She jumps into the Core Base that Iino is repairing and launches when the Bawoos approach. Judau chases after in a Neo Core Fighter, followed by Beecha in the Core Top. Judau tells Ple that no one would be happy if she fights alone, and Arius attacks. Beecha chases Arius but is unable to see in the clouds. Arius then chases Beecha, but Judau breaks in and allows Beecha to escape. Ple attacks another Bawoo and shoots out its monoeye. The shuttle accidentally crashes into the blinded Bawoo and destroys it. Arius and his other man return to their shuttle and escape. Bright arrives at the EFF’s secret headquarters in Dublin and is approached by several guards. They ask him to identify himself, and he says they should know by his uniform.

Roux uses the Zeta Gundam to cover the Argama with foliage. Judau and the others take a jeep and head into town. As they pass over the mansion where Bright is at, Judau decides to get off and check it out. Three gluttonous EFF officials named Tandem, White and Rohm have their lunch as Bright is brought before them. White says there is a problem because Bright is against their strategy of peace. Bright questions that strategy, which is is to give Haman Side 3. He reminds them that Side 3 was the home of the Zabis and that they are helping increase Neo Zeon’s power. White says that the war is not the EFF’s concern and that they will end the conflict by disarming the Argama. Judau overhears everything and jumps onto the table. He kicks around their food and tells them the world is becoming a mess because they aren’t doing anything. He punches White, and soldiers immediately seize him and Bright. In Dublin, Fa works as a nurse in a hospital and passes Iino and Ple without recognizing Iino. On the Sandra, Glemy orders Arius and his Bawoos to launch and find the Argama. Judau yells at soldiers to let him and Bright out of the dungeon, but Bright says it’s useless. Arius and his men begin attacking the mansion, and Roux and Beecha launch in the Zeta Gundam and Gundam Mk-II to fight back. A stray missile from a Bawoo hits the mansion and sets it on fire. Fa’s medical team arrives on the scene to help the wounded. Judau tries to knock the door down to escape, but a dead soldier is blocking the door. Roux and Beecha attack the Bawoos, and Bright and Judau begin to suffocate from the smoke. Fa hears them and uses a jeep to break open the wall. As they head to the Argama, each wonders why the other is in Dublin.

The Argama arrives in Dublin, but not without problems. We’re introduced to a new character here, the bald pilot Arius Moma. He and his men are supposed to be guarding the Psycho Gundam, but we don’t see it here. And one of them doesn’t do so well since he gets destroyed by his own ship. We also get to see Fa again, who has been absent for more than 20 episodes. What has she been doing that time, and how did she end up in Dublin? More importantly, where is Kamille? Bright confronts the EFF here, and the three men he meets are the epitome of the Earth Federation’s corruption. These men care only about their own aristocratic nonsense and can’t even be bothered with Haman and her intentions. In a way, they’re almost worse than she is because they are so complacent. The episode ends in the middle of the battle, so we’ll have to see where it goes.
