Gundam ZZ Ep. 43: The Girl From Core 3 (Part 2)

0
Summary

Neo Zeon soldiers enter Cicero to look for the Gundam Team. In Core 3, Elle, Roux and Rutina are taken to Haman’s castle. Elle and Roux attack the soldiers escorting them and escape into a nearby room. They are surprised to find Mineva there with one of her servants. Ple Two and the soldiers break in and take them prisoner again. Elsewhere, Judau, Mondo, Beecha and Iino meet with Roy to discuss their next move. Beecha wants to use the Nahel Argama‘s hyper mega particle gun to blast Haman, but Judau says they can’t because of all the civilians living in Core 3. Ple Two is introduced to Haman and Mineva, and Haman asks her if she is Elpeo Ple’s sister. Ple Two answers that she doesn’t know who that is. Mondo and Beecha go into space with the Zeta Gundam and the ZZ Gundam to attack the many Gaza-D units surrounding the area. As the Gazas chase the two Gundams, Judau and Iino slip out in their Neo Core Fighters, which have been disguised with fake asteroids. When they are clear, they break out and head towards the Nahel Argama. In Core 3, Elle tries to break out of the dungeon they have been placed in. Ple Two comes in and takes Rutina out to the woods near the castle. She tells Rutina that if she doesn’t want to die she should escape quickly. Rutina wants to save Elle and Roux and heads back for the castle. Chara and the Gylens watch and wonder if Rutina works for Glemy. Judau takes Rutina aside, and Chara thinks that the Cicero rebels and the Gundam Team must be working for Glemy. Chara jumps Judau, but she stops when Ple Two’s Qubeley Mk-II flies by and destroys two Gazas. She begins attacking the castle, and Haman is informed that Glemy has begun a rebellion and is attacking Axis.

In Cicero, Roy’s rebels begin attacking the Neo Zeon soldiers. Ple Two continues her attack on the castle until Chara shows up in her Geymalk along with the Gylens in their Gaz-L and Gaz-R. Chara is about to fire all her weapons at Ple Two, but the Gylens tell her that if she does Haman and all the people in Core 3 will be killed. Judau and Rutina enter the castle and rescue Elle and Roux. They run up the stairs and encounter Haman. Haman tells Judau to get out of her way, and the walls begin to shake. Judau knocks Haman and Mineva away as the wall crumbles. Chara’s Geymalk crashes through the wall and hits the ground. She sees that Haman and Mineva are still inside, so Lance takes them away in his Gaz-L. Judau leads Elle, Roux and Rutina to a linear car station where he has hidden his Neo Core Fighter. He uses the Neo Core Fighter to push the linear car out into space. Beecha and Mondo show up, and Mondo rips the car free from the track. A hole is blown out of the colony nearby, and Ple Two’s Qubeley comes out. Judau quickly docks with the other components to form ZZ Gundam. Ple Two attacks him, but she stops when she sees the image of Ple protecting ZZ Gundam. Judau asks her why she stopped and why she rescued Rutina. He says that she is feeling guilty about killing Ple and rescued Rutina to make up for it. Beecha and Mondo escape while they talk, and Ple Two thinks Judau tricked her. She attacks him with her funnels, but he manages to dodge them. On the Nahel Argama, Torres fires the hyper mega particle gun at Core 3 and severs the link with Cicero. On the Sadalahn, Chara asks Haman for a chance to fight Ple Two and get revenge. Haman says that it is more important to defeat Glemy. On Cicero, Judau says goodbye to Rutina and Roy and returns to the Nahel Argama.

Commentary

As the series gets closer to its conclusion, Glemy’s long-awaited rebellion finally begins. It’s been hinted at for a long time, and frankly I think it took too long to happen. It should have probably started right after the Gundam Team returned to space. Instead of this nonsense with Moon Moon, Tigerbaum and Core 3, the time could have been spent expanding upon Glemy’s rebellion and making it a truly epic battle. Now that it has begun, we’ll have to see where it goes in the last four episodes left in the series.
