The Heavy Soldier Vajra was an advanced lifeform capable of surviving in the vacuum of space. The insectoid-like Heavy Soldier was not autonomous and existed as part of a hive mind controlled by Queens. The Heavy Soldier’s body was covered in bio-energy conversion armor similar to the energy conversion armor used by variable fighters, but its armor was strong enough to be impervious to most attacks. The highly maneuverable Heavy Soldier moved via a bio-gravitational field propeller and was capable of atmospheric flight and bio-fold navigation. Its defense systems included two bio-machine guns, a heavy quantum reaction beam cannon and bio-micro-missile launchers. When the Vajra began attacking the Macross Frontier emigration fleet in 2059, the VF-171 Nightmare Plus fighters used by NUNS provided an inadequate defense.
