The HFA-78-3 Heavy Armed FA Gundam (aka Heavy Full Armor Gundam) was the ultimate evolution of the RX-78-7 Gundam 7th. This unit was the FA-78-3 Full Armor Gundam 7th with the addition of a mega beam cannon unit and a “second armor” system. The cannon unit gave it the same power as a battleship and was equipped with a large-sized generator, propellant tanks and additional verniers. The massive size of the HFA-78-3 made it difficult to maneuver and ill-suited for melee combat. The Gundam 7th was not completed until after the end of the One Year War. In UC 0081, the suit was assigned to Hugues Courand, a pilot with the Phantom Sweeper unit that was tasked with hunting down the Zeon remnant group known as the Invisible Knights. Hugues used the HFA-78-3 during an operation to stop the Invisible Knights’ Tears of Varuna plan.
