The Himalaya class aircraft carriers were based on an old Russian design, the Kiev class, and served as the mainstay of the Earth Federation Forces’ surface fleets, primarily for Don Escargot aircraft. With a maximum capacity of 30 aircraft, these large vessels were called “The Whale of the EF” by Zeon soldiers. During the One Year War, the extensive battles for Earth’s seas saw the construction of more than 10 of these large carriers, for operations around important coastal EFF installations such as Hawai’i and Belfast.
