0
Summary

The Solo Ship arrives at the Earth colony planet Ajian after a week in Null Space. Lin watches over Lou, who is still very sick with the measles. The Solo Ship lands at a military base. The Buff Clan tracks the Solo Ship using the transmission device. Gije tells Harulu that he wants to attack the enemy with sublight missiles, which have the power to destroy an entire planet. Gije’s Gero Zan heads into Null Space towards Ajian. Cobol, Vice Commander of the Ajian base comes out to see the crew of the Solo Ship. Bes hands over a report from Braziller. The civilians are allowed to leave the ship. Sheryl is allowed to head to a computer center at the base to investigate the Ide. Cobol orders soldiers to wait in the Solo Ship while it is being resupplied. The Gero Zan detects an Earth ship while in Null Space, the Congratulations. The Buff Clan orders the Congratulations to stop and sends off warning shots. On Ajian, Lou is given a vaccine. Karala asks the doctor to check the other children on the Solo Ship as well. The Buff Clan fires sub light missiles at Ajian, causing huge amounts of destruction on the level of a nuclear weapon. The Congratulations arrives and requests to be allowed to land. The Congratulations has three Zigg Macks aboard, which immediately come out and demand the Giant God to be handed over. Gije states that more sub light missiles will be fired if the Giant God isn’t handed over. Bes tells everyone to prepare for battle. One of Cobol’s assistants tells him that the Sixth Civilization and Ide are real. The Commander says to both defeat the Buff Clan and seize the Solo Ship and Ideon. Cosmo and the others head aboard the three units of the Ideon. The Ajian military sends out its forces to fight the Buff Clan, with the ulterior motive of taking over the Solo Ship as well. Gije realizes that the enemy is not going to hand over the Giant God. The three Ideon units launch. The Zigg Macks easily destroy much of Ajian’s forces.

The Sol-Amber transforms into the Ideo-Delta and attacks the Buff Clan’s Zigg Macks. The Sol-Conver and Sol-Vainer do the same and destroy one of the Zigg Macks. In the Ajian computer lab, Sheryl realizes the Buff Clan has attacked. The Ajian military refuses to let her leave since she has military secrets that Ajian wants to seize. Karala heads out on a hovercraft as a number of Ajian crafts head into the Solo Ship. Sheryl tries to escape from the guards and is helped when the ceiling collapses on them. The Ajian forces continue to fight the Buff Clan’s Zigg Macks right in the middle of one of their cities. Kasha tries to be cautious in battle since they are in an urban area. Cosmo finds himself unable to fire as well although the Ajian forces don’t seem to care about fighting in their own territory. The Ajian forces start attacking the three Ideon units. Soldiers arrive on the Solo Ship bridge and order everyone to leave. Sheryl meets up with Karala. Karala wants to get them to stop fighting but Sheryl tells her Ajian won’t understand her idealism. The Ideon combines into its humanoid form and grabs ahold of one of the Zigg Macks. Gije decides to retreat since the sub light missiles will soon be hitting the planet. The Ideon’s pilots realize that a second wave of sublight missiles will be coming. Gije’s Zigg Mack fires upon the Ideon, destroying one of its legs. Gije retreats as the other Zigg Mack is destroyed. Ajian fires upon the sub light missiles, but is unable to stop them and they hit the planet, destroying the main office of the Ajian military. Lou wakes up, fully recovered. The Solo Ship takes off as the Ideon ascends through the atmosphere. Kasha tells Cosmo that at least another dozen sub light missiles are coming towards Ajian. Cosmo uses a mysterious red button that hasn’t been used before. Suddenly the Ideon’s stomach hatch opens and a black hole appears from out of it, sucking in all of the sub light missiles. The black hole quickly disappears once the missiles are absorbed. The Solo Ship departs the now nearly destroyed Ajian. One of the soldiers aboard the Solo Ship tells them that both the Buff Clan and Solo Ship crew were like aliens to them. Bes says they need to be cautious about heading to another colony planet from now on. Kasha thinks the Solo Ship is now invincible with the Ideon’s black hole cannon, but Karala is concerned about its power. Cosmo tells Sheryl to continue researching the Ide.

Commentary

This is a really good episode, probably the best so far in the series. The Solo Ship arrives at an Earth colony planet only to be treated like aliens by their fellow Earthlings. The military of Ajian shows itself to be quite ruthless, and shows less care for its own people than the crew of the Solo Ship! This episode is also notable as the firepower from both the Buff Clan and Solo Ship become more powerful than ever. The Buff Clan reveals its sublight missiles which are powerful enough to render most of Ajian a wasteland by the end of the episode. The Ideon reveals the first of its three super powerful weapons, the miniature black hole cannon. As powerful as it is, this is the sole time in the entire series the weapon is used. If you pay careful attention in this episode, you can spot a poster of Char in one of the buildings destroyed during a Buff Clan attack.
