The Kerguelen was a Zanzibar class mobile cruiser used by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War. Like other ships of its class, the Kerguelen was capable of atmospheric re-entry and unassisted flight on Earth with its powerful rocket thrusters. A booster attachment allowed the ship to launch into orbit and return to space. In UC 0079, the Kerguelen was stationed at a secret Zeon mountain base in Southeast Asia, where it was used to power Ginias Sahalin’s mobile armor research facility. In November UC 0079, the Earth Federation Forces discovered the base’s location and began their siege. Ginias’ sister (and Apsaras III) copilot Aina helped push through a temporary cease fire to allow wounded soldiers to evacuate on the Kerguelen. However, Ginias violated the cease fire in his madness, and the EFF responded by having an RGM-79[G] GM Sniper shoot down the Kerguelen, resulting in a loss of all hands.
