King Gainer Ep. 11: You Can’t Steal Tears

0
Summary

Gainer complains to Adette about sleeping late, telling her to set a better example. Gainer notices that the news is talking about the Yapan Exodus. Various other members of the Exodus watch as well. Hughes is happy about their success, as is Bello and Sara upon seeing her shown on TV. The news also reports that Duke Medaiyu may be ousted as in charge of Wulgusk, surprising Princess Ana. A flying Overman, the Jimba, approaches the city units of Polochev and its pilot, Asuham, demands they stop trying to participate in the Exodus. He is able to grab a domed structure and toss it to the ground with ease. Above the city, Duke Pilwiz asks Zakki if his cooperation and providing of his Overman will prevent his family from being ousted. Zakki says that hasn’t been decided yet and they are aware of him illegally trading with the Yapan Exodus movement. Gainer wins another online video game battle and passes up orders to participate in other matches until he hears from his old friend Cynthia Lane. In the Bachclone dock Lioubov helps Mamado with grading papers when Princess Ana comes in and says Wulgusk is being discussed on the news. Ana asks if she is worried about their home. She joins Bello and Sara, who are heading out to a peddler’s bazaar run by merchants from Polochev. They soon pass the crowded bazaar on their silhouette engine. Gain purchases some meat and is joined by Sara, Bello and Princess Ana. The locals call Sara a celebrity. Princess Ana runs off and plans to hide in a silhouette engine so she can get back to Wulgusk. Soon merchants start complaining about some of their goods vanishing. The Jimba appears nearby, hovering in the sky and holding the stolen goods. Lioubov rushes towards Ana telling her it is dangerous here. Kejinan joins up with Asuham and is told he’ll need to retrain after they return for being late. King Gainer arrives, but its bullets are quickly stolen by the Jimba using its Overskill. King Gainer attacks it with the blade of its chain gun but suddenly Gainer realizes he can’t move his right arm as Jimba has stolen muscles from the King Gainer’s arm.

Duke Pilwiz admits on camera that they have been selling goods to the Yapan Exodus, and Zakki thinks they’ll be able to use this against the Yapan Exodus. Gain leads a group bringing supplies back to the city units. Sara heads out on her Panther and attacks the Jimba but has her gun stolen. The Jimba fires at her with her own gun but King Gainer uses a Photon Mat Ring to block the shots. King Gainer swipes at the Jimba but misses, but continues to pursue the Jimba and slices away at the stolen gun. The Jimba manages to hide under one of the city units. Meanwhile Lioubov chases after Princess Ana asking her to return with her to the city units. Spotting them, Asuham thinks he’ll be able to use Princess Ana and chases after the two of them as they ride away on Lioubov’s motorbike, which heads through the merchant area and crashes into a nearby barn. Lioubov apologizes to Princess Ana for being preoccupied when she talked to her earlier and asks her what is wrong. The Jimba’s hand passes through the farm wall and grabs onto the two of them. Lioubov calls out for Mamado to help them and Princess Ana says to calm down, that Gainer will help them. Hughes tells Gainer to shoot down the Jimba despite the fact that Ana and Lioubov will be sacrificed. Princess Ana says that is okay and asks Asuham if he came here specifically to capture her. She tells Asuham he should be ashamed of himself for kidnapping two helpless women when his goal is to defeat the King Gainer. Asuham says she has a noble spirit but he controls whether she will live or die. Gain approaches in his Gotchko. Asuham charges at Gain in his Jimba, wanting to take him back. He manages to swipe Gain, but realizes that it is really a bomb-equipped mannequin which explodes. This enables King Gainer to attack and slice off the Jimba’s arm. Sara is able to catch them in her Panther but tells Gainer that she can’t hold onto them for much longer. The Jimba, now armless, returns to where Kejinan is stationed and Asuham tells him they are going to retreat. Gain gets back in the Gotchko and asks Gainer how he knew what he was going to do. Gainer tells Princess Ana that it is dangerous and she shouldn’t go out into the battlefield. Ana asks him to let her use his phone and she needs to make a long distance phone call. The news reports that St. Regan has decided to not leave things in the hands of the Siberian Railway. Princess Ana uses Gainer’s phone to look into Wulgusk, which she sees an image of. Duke Medaiyu is told by one of his associates that Princess Ana is calling and rushes into the room to see her. Ana asks if what she heard about the family being ousted is true. She says she can return on the train if he needs her to be there. Duke Medaiyu says he can’t have a daughter supporting the Exodus and proclaims that Ana is disowned, hanging up on her. Ana starts crying. Medaiyu’s associates ask him why he did this and he says he wants Ana to be around to continue the family line if his family is ousted. Ana continues to cry as Gainer tries to restore the connection with no success. Ana says she understands and will fulfill her duty as a daughter of Medaiyu. Gainer is confused. Adette complains about how noisy Ana is being.

Commentary

After a few down episodes, things improve quite a bit here. It was good to see Princess Ana get some more development after being in a reduced role for a while. It was a sad moment at the end with her father but something that will be the best for her. This episode’s battle was a bit more interesting than we’ve had the last few episodes and another interesting Overman in the Jimba is introduced. It was also interesting to see the Exodus becoming popular and reported on the news, making characters like Sara celebrities among the general populace. I’d still like to see the plot move along a bit more, but compared to the last couple of episodes this is quite an improvement.
