L.Gaim Ep. 10: Time Limit

Summary

Stella, at one of the rebel’s small bases, tells Reeve to get some rest. He wants to test Daba some more before allowing him to join them. Daba and Leccee work on repairing the L.Gaim when Stella comes over to see them. Amu fawns over him and Kyao wonders if she’s into older men. Stella says they must secure weapons and funds and asks them to go see Amandara. He asks for Amu to remain behind and perform a separate mission. Daba wants her to come along, but Stella says no. He says to return by 7:00 the next morning or something will happen to Amu, so they head off in the Works. Stella tells Amu he feels Daba is too nice, which is why he wants to test him. He says he was formerly a member of the aristocracy on Mizun and rebels against Poseidal to restore that status. Leccee tells Daba to stop at a nearby town. Spotting a nearby light, the Works stops. Looking through binoculars, they see a Graia nearby. Daba tells Lilith to go see what’s going on. She watches three soldiers sitting by a campfire, complaining. Leccee volunteers to head out and trick them using her military ID. She heads out on a Little Flosser and shows her ID to the soldiers, who are shocked at her high status. The Graias head out, causing Kyao to think she double crossed them. The Graia flies by, apparently not noticing them. Leccee comes back and Kyao yells at her for making a fool of them. They continue on and wait outside the Rojina Spaceport and Lilith heads in with sleeping gas, distracting the soldiers long enough for Kyao to knock them out. Daba and the others head in on flossers, looking for Amandara and are found by soldiers from the Aman Group. The soldiers bring them to Amandara, and Daba asks him why he’s cooperating with Poseidal. Amandara gives him the credit chip and tells him to use it as funds for the rebels. He will be providing weapons as well. Daba says he truly is a merchant of death, selling goods to allies and enemies alike, but Amandara explains that he accepts payment only from the military. Meanwhile, soldiers flying on an Autogyro find the Whale hidden in the cliffs. A beam cannon from the yacht shoots them down.

Gavlet gets into his Graia and heads out. Amandara helps Daba and the others load their supplies and tells them to use his pass to leave the base. Amandara’s underling tells him the Whale is being attacked. Daba wants to help, but Amandara tells him to not worry about him. As soon as they leave, Daba makes clear his intentions to help out the Whale. Leccee reminds him they have a deadline to meet, but Daba doesn’t care. Daba says he wants to join the rebels on Mizun, and Leccee tells him Poseidal is a much tougher enemy than he thinks. They get back to the Works. Meanwhile, the Whale heads out of the cave and attacks the soldiers surrounding it. Amandara departs the base on a small craft, not wanting the military to find out anything about him. Gavlet is informed that the Whale was found and announces he’ll head out with a group of Arornes and attack it. Chai leads the attack, demanding the Whale be left intact. Gavlet asks for a booster for his Graia and Chai allows it, happy that Gavlet is finally fighting the way he wants him to. Daba gets into the L.Gaim and Leccee gets on an upgraded Spirit provided by Amandara. Daba tells her to head out with him even though she has no experience with it. Kyao works on unloading the Works, and Amandara heads across the water towards the Whale. Gavlet wonders how a ship that size can be unidentified and says the Poseidal military is wholly corrupt. Gavlet says the only way they’ll be able to capture the Whale is by directly attacking it, but is stopped when Daba and Leccee arrive. Amandara makes it to the Whale in the confusion. He blasts one of the enemy’s crafts and separates Gavlet from his booster. The Whale starts heading away from the battle and blasts its way into the atmosphere. Leccee tells Daba they have to hurry before reinforcements arrive. Daba attacks Gavlet’s Graia and cuts its arm off. He and Leccee escape. At the rebel base, Kyao arrives with the supplies, but Stella tells them Amu will be executed since Daba hasn’t arrived yet with the funds. Stella says they have to do this to retain order in the rebel army. Amu says there’s no need to worry as Daba and Leccee soon arrive. Daba throws Stella the credit chip. Leccee says she likes the idea of Amu being tied up and Amu yells at her.

Commentary

This is a rather dull episode, arguably the worst of the series thus far. It seems like Amandara is funding the rebels and gives back to Daba the credit chip that our heroes possessed for so long. Stella shocks me by almost executing Amu as a way to test Daba. How does he expect people to join his rebellion if he’s gonna do something like that? I wonder if Amu really likes him or is just acting like she does because Leccee’s shown up. Amandara gives our heroes some supplies, so it looks like they’ll have some more forces than just the L.Gaim for the time being.
