L.Gaim Ep. 24: Asphy Heart

0
Summary

Daba struggles with unmanned crafts in midair. Kyao heads out in the D.Sserd to help and tells Daba they should catch one of the crafts so they can study it. More appear and surround the L.Gaim. Amu and Leccee argue on whether they are really unmanned. A new heavy metal, the Pardner, approaches and Amu heads to the Spirit in order to help. The Pardner’s pilot, Asphy Miyama, swears revenge on Daba for the death of her mother. Daba says he didn’t kill her, but Asphy won’t listen. Kyao wants to blast her, but Daba says not to kill her. Amu and Leccee head out on the Spirit, which is promptly destroyed. With the cockpit crashing toward the ground, Amu and Leccee make up and stop fighting for the moment. Luckily, the L.Gaim catches them in its hand. The Pardner damaged, Asphy retreats. Amu and Leccee’s short lived truce is over and the two continue arguing in the L.Gaim’s hand. Meanwhile, the Slender Skala, now on Trydetol, flies through the air. On the deck Asphy talks to Gavlet and thanks him for helping out before heading out. Gavlet is impressed with her as a girl who has been piloting since she was young. He’s also impressed with the fact that she was able to control all those unmanned crafts as well. As she leaves, Gavlet tells Hashamoja to make sure that she doesn’t find out it was really him who killed her mother. Asphy takes off with the Pardner and its accompanying crafts. Asphy thinks about Daba lying to her about killing her mother. On the bridge, Gavlet listens to a message from Giwaza, who is upset at his recent failure to defeat Daba. Daba and Kyao head through the wilderness near some ruins, looking for water. Amu and Leccee run from a nearby explosion back to the Turner. Seeing the explosion, Asphy heads there. Daba tells Kyao not to kill her as they get ready for battle. The L.Gaim and D.Sserd head out. Daba says just to defend and convince her they are telling the truth. Asphy gets out of the cockpit and stands on top of the Pardner, demanding to talk to Daba. The Turner sends out a camera to observe her. Asphy says she wants to talk to Daba and see proof that he didn’t kill Lilin. Daba agrees to the temporary truce and they meet on the ground. Asphy tells Kyao not to get involved. Daba tells Asphy again that he didn’t kill her mother.

Daba tells Asphy he’ll show her proof on the ship. Kyao wants to do a body search of her before she gets on the ship in case she has a gun. He touches her breasts and she punches him in the face. Amu takes over and Asphy agrees to give her her gun before she heads on the ship. Asphy is angry that Daba has no proof for her, but Daba says the fact that he didn’t kill her is proof enough. Daba refuses to tell Asphy who really killed Lilin since she would kill whoever did it. Asphy tells Daba he’s a hypocrite since he’s trying to get revenge on Poseidal for wiping out the Yaman Clan. She leaves and Leccee tells her that she should believe Daba because she wasn’t taken captive. Asphy starts crying, managing to catch Leccee off guard. She knocks Leccee out and throws her in a cell. Amu and Kyao tell Daba he’s being too lenient on Asphy. Daba gets in the shower and they leave. Asphy runs in and tries to strangle Daba. Daba says not to kill him, as she will no longer be a normal girl, but a murderer and will regret it. Asphy has a vision of her mother and stops. Amu and Leccee run in but Asphy, with a gun and beam saber in hand escapes, saying they should settle things in their heavy metals. Daba runs off and Amu gets excited about seeing him naked. The Slender Skala approaches as Asphy gets into the Pardner. Gavlet gets into the Bat-Shu and heads out. Daba tells Amu to support him from the Turner and heads into the L.Gaim. Amu heads out anyway on the Lista. The Slender Skala‘s forces arrive and Gavlet attacks the L.Gaim with his Bat-Shu. He tells Asphy and Hashamoja to also attack the L.Gaim. Asphy’s unmanned crafts force the L.Gaim to the ground. Hashamoja, heading behind her, decides to kill her like he did her mother. The Pardner slices through the L.Gaim and Hashamoja’s Graia attacks seconds later. Asphy thinks he attacked her, but Hashamoja denies it. She attacks him and he blows up the Pardner. Asphy ejects and Daba saves her by throwing his shield under her to cushion her fall to the ground. Hashamoja tells Gavlet that Asphy betrayed them, and they retreat. The L.Gaim’s shield hits the ground and Asphy falls off. She watches the L.Gaim fly off.

Commentary

This episode introduces Lilin’s daughter, Asphy, who appears out of nowhere in an attempt to get revenge on Daba for her mother’s death. Of course Daba had nothing to do with it; her “ally” Hashamoja was the one who killed her mother and makes it pretty obvious by trying to kill her as well. I wonder why Asphy was on Trydetol if her mother was on Koam. Sure makes this episode feel like one they came up with out of nowhere to fill space. Then again, Asphy brings up an interesting point that Daba is being a hypocrite for desiring revenge on Poseidal while refusing to admit to her Lilin’s true killer so she can get her own revenge. This episode is made up somewhat with the comedy aspects from Amu, Leccee and Kyao, so it isn’t a total bust.
