L.Gaim Ep. 28: Nei Crisis

0
Summary

A small force of rebels, led by a bearded man, Semuj Shato, destroys a Graia using a silver colored D.Sserd. Gavlet soon arrives with a sizable force and pursues them. Gavlet contacts the Slender Skala, which is in space and says they need to come up with a plan to catch the Turner. He damages Semuj’s D.Sserd, but Daba, piloting the L.Gaim, and Leccee, piloting a D.Sserd arrive. Daba pursues Gavlet, but the L.Gaim performs weakly and Gavlet is able to ram him with his Calvary Temple. Daba outwits him and blows up the Calvary Temple, but Gavlet ejects. The heavily damaged L.Gaim crashes to the ground and Daba contacts Leccee. Meanwhile, on the Sarge Opus Giwaza talks to Nei about pursuing a man Poseidal is interested in. He receives a message from Olibee and Rockley. Olibee complains about Gavlet’s actions, but Giwaza doesn’t care what she has to say, saying she’s only still around for the “Yaman Extermination Plan.” Rockley says things have changed and plays a message from Poseidal saying that no more power will be given to the Elite 13. Nei tells Anton she’s heading towards the Slender Skala in order to help Giwaza’s position. On Trydetol, Kyao tells Daba that in its current condition the L.Gaim is practically worthless. Leccee says that Gavlet is still around since they didn’t find his body in the Calvary Temple’s wreck. Kyao and Amu argue when he ignores working on the L.Gaim. Lilith finds Gavlet hiding behind the D.Sserd. The Sarge Opus and Slender Skala meet up and Nei heads to the Slender Skala with her wingmen. She is surprised to find that Gavlet isn’t around. They get in their heavy metals and head down to Trydetol.

Gavlet explains he can’t forget about the kindness Leccee showed him, which is why he came. Those on the Slender Skala are only concerned with their careers. Allon gets mad and tries attacking him. When a message from Hashamoja is announced, Gavlet takes the opportunity to grab onto Amu and take her hostage. Hashamoja tells Gavlet that Nei has arrived and wants to attack the enemy. Lilith flies into Gavlet’s face and Amu kicks him in the crotch, enabling her to escape from his grasp. Nei and her wingmen arrive and attack the Turner. Daba gets into the D.Sserd and heads out. Leccee follows him on the Spirit. Nei fights the D.Sserd and tells Anton and Heckler to attack the Turner. The slow moving Turner has difficulty with the attacks. Aboard the ship, Gavlet knocks out Allon and escapes on the Desks. Daba, having difficulty with the Auge, wishes that he was able to use the L.Gaim. The D.Sserd is severely damaged, but Leccee arrives to help out. Nei complains about Anton not taking the Turner out yet. Kyao heads to the deck and sends out the L.Gaim Mk-II on remote control, it having just been repaired by Mesh. Semuj, leading a group of rebels, arrives and attacks the Auge. Daba tries flying up to the L.Gaim Mk-II, but is knocked down due to the D.Sserd’s inferior power. He tries a second time and knocks Nei away long enough to transfer to the L.Gaim Mk-II. He is immediately struck by Nei, but manages to transform the L.Gaim Mk-II from flight mode and aims a buster launcher at Nei, saying he’ll shoot if she doesn’t retreat. Nei refuses and the blast heavily damages the Auge. Gavlet says she must retreat, as she can’t help Giwaza in this condition. Nei says she’ll never forget this and retreats. Gavlet declares he wants to be the one to kill Daba. The battle over, Semuj meets with Daba and asks if they can team up. They shake hands.

Commentary

This episode officially marks the start of the second half of the series. Thus far the series has had its ups and downs, with the biggest flaw probably being that the plot has moved rather slowly, particularly lately. With the emergence of the Mk-II, I’m sure things will be increasing in intensity from this point on. It’s unfortunate to see the L.Gaim heavily damaged, if it can remain in service (like the Dunbine did in Aura Battler Dunbine after the Billbine appeared) it will increase our heroes’ strength tremendously. It’s good to see after a good half a dozen episodes on Trydetol that there is a rebel force there after all, led by Semuj. Hopefully the rebel forces on Trydetol won’t suffer the same fate as those on Mizun. It looks like Poseidal is decreasing her reliance on her Elite 13 and giving more power to Olibee. This will probably give villains like Nei and Giwaza even more motivation towards defeating Daba in the future.
