Summary

The Turner approaches Mizun, but has received no permission allowing passage. Lilith flies in with food for everyone. Gavlet heads over to the Sarge Opus and goes to see Giwaza. With Giwaza are three of the Elite 13: Lily Hasshi, Ted Devilas and Baan Gania Killas. Giwaza tells Gavlet that the rebels on Trydetol are splitting up, with a large amount of their forces heading to Mizun to meet up with more rebels there. Giwaza promotes Gavlet, telling him he’s now one of the Elite 13. He tells Devilas to manage Trydetol and orders Gavlet to attack the Turner. He will head to the asteroid base Metta with Lily and Baan. Gavlet returns to the Slender Skala and wonders why Giwaza is assembling the Elite 13. The Turner is encountered by the Mizun military, who send out a number of Space Graias. Lilith argues with Daba about heading out to attack Mizun. Daba heads out on the L.Gaim Mk-II, followed by Amu in the L.Gaim and Kyao in the D.Sserd. Lilith worries about Amu getting too close to the enemy. Amu does have success in defeating the enemy, however. Kyao and Daba have similar success. Daba spots more forces coming. Lilith thinks the enemy’s forces are too large, and Daba agrees. They contact Semuj and head back to the Turner. A number of battleships, led by another Sarge Opus approach. Aboard the Sarge Opus is Wassan Lune, one of the Elite 13, and current head of Mizun. He is anxious to show why he’s been given such a lofty position. Daba is upset about there being such difficulty getting to Mizun. Lilith tells him a lot of people believe in him. A boat, the Thess, approaches, sending an electric signal to the Turner. Daba heads in close to the Thess and realizes it belongs to Amandara. It lands on the Turner and Amandara comes out, thanking them for their help. Daba and the others question why he’s here. Daba thanks him for giving them battleships. Amandara asks why they are there, but rather than answer Daba requests more ships, hoping that other enterprises will notice and decide to help them. Amandara refuses and Daba gets angry, taking out his beam saber. Daba questions Amandara’s motives since he gave them so many weapons before. Amandara tells Daba he is providing the rebels with weapons so they will remain strong enough to provide difficulty for the military. That way the military will need to purchase more from him. Daba shows Amandara his Yaman Clan pendant and says he’s returning to Mizun in order to confront Poseidal. On the bridge of the Turner, Allon spots the Slender Skala coming. Daba at that moment is getting information on Mizun from Amandara. He thanks him and leaves.

Amu confirms that the Slender Skala is approaching. Kyao and the others wonder why he hasn’t attacked yet. Amu thinks it’s too dangerous to head to Mizun now. Amandara, talking to his assistant Eiman, is mad at Giwaza for only sending Gavlet after the Turner. He appears to be angry with Poseidal as well. On the bridge of the Turner, Daba admits he wasn’t serious enough about their conflict until today. He says those in Pentagona have forgotten how to live seriously and fight. He believes people don’t think enough about the future, and he thinks this is largely the fault of men. Semuj and Amu think he’s being too harsh, but realize what he really means. They realize that Poseidal takes the form of a woman to make the citizens of Pentagona think the military has the mentality of a woman. Daba thinks the Poseidal he met is a clone. Meanwhile, more forces from the military depart Mizun and encounter some rebels, who are having difficulty with their small forces. The Turner reaches the atmosphere of Mizun and is spotted by Wassan’s Sarge Opus. The Slender Skala approaches. Wassan wants to finish off the Turner before he arrives and sends out heavy metals to attack them. Daba and the others leave the Turner and meet up with the other rebels. The Turner is struck by a blast, and Amandara takes the opportunity to depart the Turner, making it look like an accident. Daba battles some G.Roons and is soon found by Gavlet, who is piloting a Bat-Shu. Gavlet blasts at him with a buster launcher, but misses. More rebels arrive and emit an SLS light showing their strength. Daba and the others realize the signal is coming from the Whale, which contacts them and reveals that Amandara has left. Gavlet goes to see Wassan and tells him the Elite 13 are too concerned with the past. Wassan disagrees and asks Gavlet to team up with him. The rebels land on Mizun and meet with each other. Daba asks the rebels on Mizun if they know of the Yaman, and they say they do. Daba shows his pendant, revealing that one of the Yaman is still around. They wonder why Daba doesn’t have a well known Yaman Clan name. Daba reveals his true name, Kamon Myroad, and kisses the ground, signifying the return to his birthplace.

Commentary

A lot is going on in this episode, the best one we’ve had in a long time. Probably most important is our heroes returning to Mizun, where Daba takes on his real name, Kamon Myroad. Being the last of the Yaman Clan, Daba has the ability to rally those against Poseidal. Speaking of Poseidal, Daba and the others theorize that Poseidal is a clone, appearing as a woman in order to fool the masses. At first this makes sense, but then again wasn’t Daba shocked earlier in the series when he realized Poseidal was a she? If Daba had always thought Poseidal was a man up until this point, wouldn’t everyone else? It’s an interesting theory nonetheless. The mysteries continue with Amandara. While he’s providing a lot of help to the rebels, he seems to have some ulterior motives and was rather anxious to get away from the Turner. This episode introduces us to four more members of the Elite 13, each with rather bizarre names and appearances (which is to be expected from a Tomino show). Even though he rarely has success against Daba, Gavlet is promoted to their level, replacing the deceased Chai Char. Gavlet doesn’t seem to have much respect for them, however. With so many of Poseidal’s elite joining up with Giwaza things should be getting harder for our heroes.
