L.Gaim Ep. 34: Leccee’s Mind

0
Summary

Aboard the Sarge Opus, Lily and Anton report to Giwaza. Nei is still recovering from her wounds and Giwaza is confident she’ll be alright on her own. Heckler is dealing with the rebels on Koam. The Whale is near Koam at that moment, commanded by Leccee. Leccee is told that Giwaza knows about Amandara helping the rebels. Heckler contacts the Whale and says they’ll be given only 10 minutes before the military launches an attack on them. The Whale contacts the Turner and Daba and the others are shocked to see Leccee. Kyao and Allon get mad when they find out she is there. Leccee contacts Heckler, who thinks they have Amandara on board. Heckler wants Amandara handed over. Leccee says Full Flat is on her side, but Heckler doesn’t believe her. The rebels attack Heckler’s ship, the Ray, and heavily damage it. More rebels head out in heavy metals, led by Daba and the others who arrived to help Leccee. Daba blasts one of the ships with a buster launcher and blows it up. Heckler retreats, swearing he’ll return. Daba approaches the Whale and flies by the bridge to look for Leccee, but she hides from him. Daba calls out for her, wondering why she didn’t tell them earlier that she was commanding this ship. The L.Gaim Mk-II then flies off. Meanwhile, the Sarge Opus approaches Theart Star and Giwaza asks to see Full. Anton worries about them being attacked but Giwaza says Full isn’t stupid enough to attack them. The guard allows them entry and Giwaza heads with Anton on a small shuttle into Theart Star.

Giwaza meets with Full, saying he heard she was helping the rebels. Full tells Giwaza it’s useless to believe the rebels; she has special rights as one who has saved Poseidal in the past. She refuses to deny the rumor, however. Wassan contacts Gavlet and tells him he has been given orders to capture Leccee from the Whale. Amu heads over to the Whale on a flosser but Leccee, not wanting to see her, closes all entrances to the ship. Allon, who came with her also demands to come in. The Slender Skala approaches, so Daba and the others head out. Leccee also goes out in a new Novel D.Sserd. Gavlet attacks Leccee with his G.Roon. Leccee initially finds the Novel D.Sserd performing well, but Gavlet damages the Novel D.Sserd and takes her captive. He demands the rebels to flee the Whale. Gavlet contacts Wassan, telling him they’ve captured Leccee, and his Sarge Opus flies overheard. Gavlet calls out to Daba and tells him to approach the Whale. Wassan thinks there’s no need to, but Gavlet doesn’t care. Leccee tells Daba not to approach, but Daba heads over there anyway and hands over his buster launcher. Amu fliers over to the G.Roon and attacks Gavlet in the cockpit. She releases the binds on the Novel D.Sserd, enabling Leccee to escape. The Whale attacks the Sarge Opus with ease since they’re so close together. Wassan gets mad at Gavlet for being so greedy. Daba attacks the G.Roon and Wassan heads out on a Bat-Shu to assist. Even with the three of them attacking at the same time, Daba is still able to knock Gavlet away. Leccee grabs onto Daba’s buster launcher and fires, blowing up Wassan’s Bat-Shu. He is able to eject just in time and Gavlet catches him in the G.Roon’s hand. They head back to the Sarge Opus. Daba goes to see if Leccee is alright and says he wants to protect her and the rebels. Amu tells Leccee she isn’t helping much by not believing in him. At Theart Star, Anton tells Giwaza that Wassan and Gavlet failed in their mission. Giwaza doesn’t care about that, however, being angry at Poseidal for letting Full and Amandara do whatever they want.

Commentary

Leccee returns to the scene in this episode, as commander of the Whale, which had showed up to save everyone in the previous episode. While I’m glad to see Leccee back, I’m surprised to see that Nagano has completely changed her character design, giving her long hair and making her look much older. I’m shocked to see such a drastic design change considering she’s only been gone five episodes or so. Leccee seems to have regretted what she has done, but her pride won’t let her admit it and instead she tries to hide from Daba and the others. Another interesting turn of events is Full returning to the scene when Giwaza makes the claim that she’s been secretly helping the rebels. If she has been, she’s certainly done a good job keeping it a secret as we certainly haven’t gotten anything hinting that she was thus far in the series outside of her letting Daba and the others stay at Theart Star for a short period of time. It seems like she had saved Poseidal in the past, which explains why she was given charge of the paradise-like asteroid base.
