L.Gaim Ep. 37: Olibee Crisis

The rebels go through heavy metal wreckage and Kyao gets excited about an old gun, causing an argument with the other rebels. A contact from the Whale tells Daba and Semuj that a ship of Poseidal’s is coming. They pick up a message from the ship, which is from Olibee, saying the rebels have 30 minutes to leave Mizun or they’ll attack. Daba realizes Lily retreated because they were coming. Daba declares they won’t lose this way and will attack. Amu thinks the enemy is too powerful, and Lilith says Daba won’t be able to fight against Olibee. Leccee volunteers to have the Whale attack, but Daba stubbornly says the Turner will head out. The Whale accompanies them. On the Krepaul, Rockley is confident Daba will fall into their trap. Olibee is dedicated to wiping him out. She has another vision of him with no face and wonders what is going on. On the Sarge Opus, Giwaza wonders about Nei and why she hasn’t contacted Poseidal or Rockley. Lily and Gavlet come in, and Giwaza orders Gavlet to head to Gastogal to get Nei. He hands Gavlet a handwritten letter since Poseidal has the room bugged, ordering him to get Nei even if it involves killing Olibee. He tells Gavlet to then team up with Nei and take over the rebels’ base on Mizun. He then orders Lily to head back to Mizun and attack the rebels. The Slender Skala heads towards Gastogal, and Gavlet tells Hashamoja he accepted the order since Giwaza wants to save Nei but can’t go himself. Hashamoja thinks Gavlet wants to meet Poseidal and is using this mission as an excuse. He says Olibee is approaching Mizun, something Gavlet didn’t know. The Turner approaches the military’s forces in space. Kyao questions if Daba can attack Olibee since he agreed to marry her, and Amu and Lilith are very shocked to hear this. Daba thinks of skiing as a kid and heads out. Amu follows, thinking that Daba won’t be able to attack Olibee. They are attacked by a number of Space Graias and Bal-Buds and approach the Krepaul. Olibee states she’s going to go to her Calvary Temple “Helmine” and pulls a gun on Rockley when he tries to stop her, saying she’s the captain of this ship. Rockley thinks of their encounter with Daba on the Epsilon. Olibee heads out in her Helmine. Daba and Amu continue to fight the enemy. Seeing the enemy fire reminds Daba of an incident in the snow when he was a child and he saw Olibee injured. Lilith kicks him in order to shake him out of it. Olibee approaches in the Helmine and demands to know why he is fighting against Poseidal.

Olibee fires at Daba, but he won’t fire back even though Lilith begs him to shoot. Amu continues to fight the enemy on her own until the Whale arrives. Olibee damages the L.Gaim Mk-II and Daba hides behind an asteroid. Daba distracts her and is able to grab her from behind. Olibee is surprised that the L.Gaim Mk-II has more power than her Helmine. Daba calls out to Olibee, saying she is being controlled by Poseidal. Daba demands to talk to Poseidal herself, and Poseidal says the whirl of confusion must continue. Justice can’t exist in their world. The Yaman killed Gods and had to be wiped out. Daba bites on his tongue and bleeds on a rag. He has Lilith fly over to the Helmine with the bloody rag and shows it to Olibee. It stops her only for a minute, then she resumes her attack. Daba flashes back to rescuing Olibee in the snow. Olibee remembers Daba bandaging a wound on her hand, and Daba wonders if she has woken up. Lily arrives with her forces. Leccee says to have the Whale go and support the L.Gaim Mk-II. Daba cuts a hole through the Helmine. Lily aims towards the L.Gaim Mk-II, but one of her soldiers notes with Olibee so close she can’t fire. Daba flies the L.Gaim Mk-II near Lily’s ship, which relentlessly fires at him. The Whale and Turner attack from above and everyone begs Daba to retreat. Olibee heads back towards the Krepaul and Daba tries to follow, but Amu stops him. On the Slender Skala, Gavlet decides to not get involved in the battle and head to Gastogal. Giwaza is told on the Sarge Opus that Gavlet is hesitating on going to Gastogal, being concerned about the battle with Olibee. Giwaza wonders if he’ll have to save Nei himself.

This is a rather interesting episode as Olibee heads to the frontline to battle the rebels. As expected, Daba is unable to fire upon his half-sister, although he almost was able to capture her. In a shocking turn of events, it is revealed that Daba was engaged to her. As shocking as that was to Amu, the viewer is probably even more shocked as brothers and sisters marrying is certainly something that just doesn’t happen. I guess the Yaman Clan approves of incest. This episode introduces Olibee’s personal heavy metal, the Calvary Temple “Helmine,” as well as the powerful Krepaul battleship. Looks like Gavlet will be heading to Gastogal to save Nei. As slow as things were on Trydetol, the plot is going at a lightning pace now, with many different storylines going on in each episode. This show is getting better and better and I hope it continues at this pace.
