L.Gaim Ep. 53: The Dictator

0
Summary

The rebel forces continue back towards Sveto. On the Turner, Daba says he wants to contact Poseidal through Olibee’s bio-sensor. Daba tells Olibee that Poseidal is lonely. She looks at him and sees her brother as she remembers him, then Mian. Amandara and Eiman force their way towards Mian. Mian wonders what Olibee is doing, and Amandara slaps her, saying she needs to gather the bio-relation’s power rather than contact Olibee so she can defeat the rebels. Amandara opens a communication circuit and tells Daba that the entire rebel force must retreat Sveto in two hours or they’ll be killed. Kyao thinks he’s bluffing and Daba refuses to retreat. Amandara says he has the power of a god and will have no trouble defeating him. Mian tells Amandara the bio-sensor he created still permits her to express her own will. He thinks she is lying and won’t be able to escape his control. Daba asks Olibee if Poseidal is lonely, and Olibee answers she is with Full. Daba and the others head out with Olibee leading them. Rockley leads a separate force towards Sveto from above the city. Rockley attacks the L.Gaim Mk-II using his Calvary Temple. Amu’s L.Gaim attacks him, refusing to let him get close to Daba. Due to Amu’s help, the L.Gaim Mk-II is able to continue on toward Sveto. The L.Gaim Mk-II enters the city and Olibee tells him to head towards the headless statue of Poseidal. On the Slender Skala, Elaine criticizes Gavlet, saying they can’t head back to Giwaza or the Poseidal military and are running out of fuel. Mian realizes that Olibee is approaching, and Amandara wonders if Daba is coming for Mian. The L.Gaim Mk-II starts cutting through the giant statue of Poseidal. Amandara wants to leave and bring Mian with him, but she refuses, saying she has to stay here. Amandara points out to her that Sveto is being destroyed and says he needs her power. Still thinking she’s Poseidal, Mian refuses to go anywhere. She escapes from him by pulling back her chair through the wall. Amandara is mad since he needs her to defeat the rebels. Daba battles a Bal-Bud and Olibee is knocked out of the L.Gaim Mk-II’s cockpit. Luckily, Amu saves her with the L.Gaim. Amu says she’ll protect Olibee and he should head after Poseidal. Rockley’s forces continue to attack from above them.

Olibee thinks they heave to enter from the top of the Poseidal statue. Rockley arrives in his Calvary Temple and attacks. Daba tries to press on while Amu battles Rockley, destroying a Bat-Shu that attacks him. Gavlet arrives and grabs hold of Rockley’s Calvary Temple, wanting to protect Olibee. Rockley attacks him, angry that he’d betray the military for the sake of a woman. Olibee watches and says that both Gavlet and Daba are her brothers. Daba gets out of the L.Gaim Mk-II on the Viewy and takes Olibee with him to go see Poseidal. They descend through the interior of the city, with Olibee leading the way. Amandara and Eiman continue to look for Mian. Olibee brings Daba to a large room, saying Poseidal was here. They continue on. Amandara finds Mian, adjusting the bio-sensor system. Eiman shoots her and she collapses. Mian tells Amandara she won’t do what he wants. Olibee tells Daba that Poseidal is injured. Mian grasps at Amandara’s face and pulls away his false beard and mustache. She starts overpowering him and yells at Amandara for what he’s done to her, Full and countless other women. She refuses to give him her role as Poseidal. She tells Amandara he’s no longer Poseidal, only a war merchant. She says the real Poseidal has died within him. Amandara says he’s done things for the benefit of those in Pentagona, but Mian says Poseidal wasn’t a dictator who controlled women or watched as a spectator. Amandara says his actions were necessary to unite the masses. Mahoul and Hans come in and Amandara tells them Mian isn’t the real Poseidal, only a doll he lets act as Poseidal. Daba blasts his way into the room and demands Mian and Amandara sit. He requests Mian come with him. Olibee comes in and Mian asks her why she’s late. Mian decides to listen to Daba and come with him, but Amandara grabs onto her. Eiman shoots at Daba, knocking away his gun. Amandara says he’s going to head off with Mian and defeat the rebels himself. Daba and Olibee escape and Mian tells Mahoul and Hans to head after Amandara. Daba heads back out and brings Olibee to Amu, telling her to watch over her. Amandara heads to a dock with heavy metals and Mian confronts him with a group of soldiers. She reveals that Amandara stole the key to the Original Auge from her while he had her captive. He tosses it back to her and reveals he only said it was the key to the Original Auge. Meanwhile in space, Giwaza plans to drop Metta on Gastogal because even if the entire planet is destroyed, there are still four more planets of Pentagona to conquer. He tells Anton to attack any troops trying to depart the planet.

Commentary

The action continues in the heart of Sveto. Amandara, the true Poseidal, is intent on defeating the rebels himself but needs Mian to do it. It looks like he is intent on using the Original Auge. It seems like he’s been wearing a fake beard and mustache all this time since Mian was able to tear it off so easily. Giwaza meanwhile, who has been largely absent the last few episodes, intends on dropping his asteroid base Metta on the planet. Olibee seems to be gaining back her senses somewhat and is a great help in leading Daba through the heart of Sveto. She seems to care enough about Gavlet now to consider him a brother as well. Yet another extremely deep episode (and thus hard to summarize unfortunately) filled with interesting confrontations and discussions. This show’s been a blast, particularly since around episode 40 or so and I look forward to what’s coming in the final episode.
