In 2030, U.N. Spacy inaugurated a new generation of emigrant fleets with the rollout of the New Macross class, a hybrid design that docked a City class colonization ship with a Battle class transformable stealth carrier. Except for the Macross 1, the City ships were protected by a dome that could cover the ship during battle. The City ship was defended by the Battle stealth carrier, which could detach and transform. The Macross 11 fleet included various docked Island class ships like the Macross Frontier fleet. In 2059, the Macross 11 was briefly threatened by the alien Vajra until the Macross Frontier crew was able to end hostilities and make peaceful contact with the aliens.
