Basara sits in a park and performs “My Soul for You” on his acoustic guitar, thinking of Sivil and Gigile. On the Einstein, Exsedol and Chiba discuss their data on the Evil bodies possessed by the Protodeviln. Exsedol tells Max that the Protoculture created seven Evil soldiers, which means one is unaccounted for. Max tells Exsedol to find out as fast as he can what Anima Spiritia is, and Chiba wants to try an experiment because he thinks Anima Spiritia may be related to song energy. At the apartment, Basara isn’t happy with Chiba’s idea to capture a Protodeviln with a sound barrier. He says there’s no point in singing to someone whose freedom they’ve taken away, and he points out that the military nearly killed Sivil. Ray says they’ll be the one doing the capturing, so they can negotiate with the military once they’ve performed the capture. Basara agrees, and the band begins practicing “Submarine Street.” Geperuniti tells Gavil that what he wants to do is irreversible, but Gavil says he has to do it after so many failures. He believes that if he captures Anima Spiritia, the Spiritia Farm Project can move forward. Chiba shows Max a simulation of how Sound Force will use song energy to create a barrier and capture Glavil. However, the energy must be balanced, and Basara’s is too strong and out of balance with Mylene’s. Mylene complains about Basara’s stubbornness, and he tells her she needs to sing on his level. Ray points out that during this time, the real Protodeviln would escape. After returning, Mylene says their training sucked, but Ray thinks it’ll go better next time. Gamlin sees that their session didn’t go too well, and he tells Mylene that even though Basara can be too strong, she could be stronger herself. When she goes quiet, he apologizes for hurting her feelings, but she runs away. Basara floats in space and thinks about his trip with Sivil and Gigile. Enemy forces are detected, and the fleet deploys its Thunderbolt squads, followed by Emerald, Diamond and Sound Forces. Ray notices that Mylene is more fired up than usual.
The Panzersolns close in, led by Gavil’s Zaubergeran and Glavil. Attacking Thunderbolts are destroyed by Glavil, and Emerald Force opens fire on the Panzersolns. Gavil fires missiles past Emerald Force and destroys several Thunderbolts. Sound Force arrives, and Basara starts singing “Holy Lonely Light.” The three Valkyries fire song energy to create a triangle-shaped barrier around Glavil, but it’s too unbalanced because of Basara’s strong power. Mylene moves in closer to Glavil, and Basara sees what she’s trying to do. Several Panzersolns attempt to attack Mylene, but Emerald and Diamond Force provide cover force. The energy is stabilized by Mylene moving closer, which creates a working sound barrier. Gavil calls Geperuniti and asks for permission to use his true form, but Geperuniti cautions him not to end up like Valgo. Gavil moves in closer, but Gamlin’s Nightmare destroys the Zaubergeran. Gavil flies into the barrier and merges with Gavil, creating Glavigula. Basara and Mylene sing “Planet Dance,” but Glavigula breaks out of the sound barrier. Basara blasts him with sound energy, slowing down his approach. Glavigula tries to grab Basara, and Max orders them to retreat. Basara looks over and sees that Battle 7 has transformed and is about to fire its Macross Cannon. Max fires the cannon at Glavigula, but no damage is caused. Glavigula unleashes an energy wave that destroys several Thunderbolts, and he knocks Gamlin aside and grabs Basara. Basara starts singing “Charging Love Heart” while Glavigula tries to crush the Excalibur. He then tries to destroy it with an energy blast, but just then Sivil arrives and rescues Basara. Glavigula tries to open fire, but Sivil blocks the attack with an energy barrier. The energy proves too much, and Gavil separates from Glavil and escapes. Basara goes out into space and grabs Sivil after she faints. When she wakes up, Basara asks her why she saved him, and she creates an energy barrier around them that sucks his Spiritia. Sivil says she wants Spiritia and begins attacking Thunderbolt pilots. She then looks at Basara and escapes.
This episodes focuses on two competing plans: Sound Force is trying to capture a Protodeviln, and Gavil wants to capture Basara. Sound Force’s efforts are hampered by Basara’s power being too high, so Mylene steps up with some encouragement from Gamlin. Their trap works, but unfortunately Gavil merges with Glavil to reveal his true form, Glavigula. This form is strong enough that even a direct hit from the Macross Cannon causes no damage. Basara isn’t pleased about that when he sees that the plan all along was to blast the Protodeviln with the Macross Cannon. Luckily for him, he’s saved by Sivil, but she sucks some of his Spiritia before escaping again. Things are definitely heating up as the series moves toward its conclusion.
