The Macross Quarter was a class of transformable space aircraft carriers in active use in the late 21st century. The class name came from the fact that with a length of 400 meters, it was one quarter the size of NUNS’ larger New Macross class carriers. As with previous ships bearing the Macross name, the Macross Quarter class could transform from ship to storm attack mode. The Macross Quarter was made up of five connected smaller ships: the main body, a forward port aircraft carrier (ARMD-L), a forward starboard gunship (ARMD-R), a rear port warship (BASTER-L) and a rear starboard warship (BASTER-R). Each warship was equipped with its own reaction engine and could operate independently. The Macross Quarter’s armaments included the main gunship heavy quantum reaction cannon (aka Macross Cannon), 24 quarter cannon beam gun turrets, a pinpoint barrier and reaction weapons. The ship’s complement included up to 80 variable fighters, destroids and other mecha.
In 2059, the government of the Macross Frontier emigrant fleet allowed the private military company SMS to operate aboard the Macross Quarter 25. Starting in March, the Macross Quarter 25 was frequently deployed to respond to attacks on the fleet from the alien Vajra. As the war took its toll on the fleet, the ship’s crew eventually discovered that government official Leon Mishima was part of a conspiracy to control the Vajra. As the conspiracy’s final phase was set into motion, Battle Frontier and Island 1 were hijacked and taken to the Vajra homeworld. In response, the crew of the Macross Quarter 25 called SMS for reinforcements before heading to the Vajra homeworld. Amidst fierce fighting, the Macross Quarter 25 finally received reinforcements from its sister ships and helped bring the battle to a close.
