The Mad Angler class was one of two submarine types used by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War, but the vessels originally served under the flag of the Earth Federation Forces. During the Earth invasion operations, the Zeon captured the EFF’s Juneau class and Lockwood class submarines and converted them to the Jukon class and Mad Angler class, respectively. Launched in June UC 0079, the newly redesignated Mad Angler vessels were designed to accommodate Zeon’s amphibious mobile suits. During the war, one Mad Angler sub carried Char Aznable’s team of the same name as it chased the assault carrier White Base across the Atlantic Ocean. In UC 0080, a vessel commanded by Zeon remnants engaged the assault carrier Spartan near Antarctica. Other vessels remained in use as late as UC 0096.
