After seeing combat several times, the MBF-P01 Gundam Astray Gold Frame was taken to Orb’s Morgenroete facility, where it was completely overhauled and upgraded to the MBF-P01-Re<AMATU> Gold Frame Amatsu. First, its missing arm was replaced by one salvaged from the destroyed GAT-X207 Blitz Gundam. The arm proved quite a find, because the Blitz Gundam’s Mirage Colloid technology was incorporated into the Gold Frame’s body. The arm also retained its Phase Shift abilities, and this technology was applied to the entire body. The Gold Frame’s damaged head was replaced by a new head equipped with an extra monoeye sensor. The Gold Frame’s armaments also received a substantial upgrade. The addition of the Blitz Gundam’s arm also included its “Trikeros” offense/defense system, which featured a beam rifle, beam saber and lancer darts. The Gold Frame’s new main weapon was its “Maga-no-Ikutachi” (Living Sword of Evil), which was capable of draining energy from nearby mobile suits. However, in its incomplete state, the “Maga-no-Ikutachi” grappling claws required physical contact with the target mobile suit. Another weapon new to the Gold Frame was a pair of back-mounted “Magashira-no-Hoko” spears. These spears could be fired and retrieved on a tether line, and they were constructed with Phase Shift armor to pierce any target. Rondo Gina used the upgraded Gold Frame in his plot to play the Earth Alliance and ZAFT against each other for Orb’s gain. In the summer of C.E. 71, he was killed in battle by MBF-P03secondL Gundam Astray Blue Frame Second L pilot Gai Murakumo. Afterward, his twin sister Rondo Mina further upgraded the suit to the MBF-P01-Re2<AMATU> Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina Custom.
