Technical and Historical Notes

The Gundam Throne mobile suits piloted by the Trinity siblings were variations of the same basic design. Constructed in secret by Alejandro Corner, they were part of his plan to seize control of Celestial Being for himself. The Thrones were powered by GN Drive Taus, which were based on data gathered from Jupiter but lacked the special core component of the original GN Drives. As a result, the GN Drive Taus could not operate perpetually and needed to consume electricity to convert to GN particles. The drive's protruding block served as its starter mechanism. Unlike the original GN Drives, the GN particles of the GN Drive Tau were toxic when used for beam weaponry or in some special states, and this was related to the particle compression rate used. To reduce weight, the Throne series' GN Drive Tau was incorporated into the suits' frame, and as such they had a different look from the other Gundams. In addition, they also did not use cords for transporting GN particles around the suit. Instead, the GN particles were capable of flowing through the suit's frame.

Michael Trinity's GNW-002 Gundam Throne Zwei served as Team Trinity's vanguard during combat. The GN Buster Sword stored high density GN particles in the central compartment, which could be released when the front half of the sword blade slid outward. The sword had the characteristics of both a physical sword and a beam sword. Through the GN particle's weight/mass manipulation ability, the sword's weight could be increased when it hit the enemy, dealing greater damage. The GN Handgun was mounted on the left arm so as not to hinder the use of the sword. Its firepower was weaker than the Gundams' beam rifles. Despite having eight GN Fangs, the suit normally used six; only in emergencies are all the Fangs deployed. Thanks to the GN Fangs, the suit could engage multiple targets at once. Normal pilots found it hard to defend against attacks from the GN Fangs as they moved at a high speed and could attack from various directions. The GN Beam Sabers were more destructive than other Gundams' sabers due to their larger size.

The Gundam Thrones made their combat debut in 2308 when they rescued the original five Gundam Meisters from a trap sprung by the world's three superpower blocs. Afterward, the Trinity siblings engaged in more brutal armed interventions, to the annoyance of the original Meisters. Eventually, the two Meister groups came into conflict until Corner seized control of Celestial Being's quantum computer Veda. After Corner determined that the Trinitys had served their purpose, he sent his operative Ali al-Saachez to dispose of them. Posing as an ally, Ali killed Michael and seized the Throne Zwei, which he then used in combat to destroy Johann Trinity's GNW-001 Gundam Throne Eins. Ali used the captured Throne Zwei during the UN's attack in space on Celestial Being. Ali dealt heavy damage to Lockon Stratos' GN-002 Gundam Dynames and killed him, but Lockon managed to damage the Throne Zwei and seriously injure Ali. By 2312, Ali had upgraded to the newer GNW-20000 Arche Gundam.
