During the course of the Bloody Valentine War, many of ZAFT's ace pilots customize their ZGMF-1017 GINN units. A custom unit piloted by ace Gud Vair sports a red color scheme, as well as a shield mounted on the right shoulder. Aside from the custom shield, Gud's unit features the same armaments as a standard GINN. Gud is mortally wounded in a battle against Serpent Tail mercenary Gai Murakumo.
