Technical and Historical Notes

The AMS-123X Varguil was a prototype Newtype use mobile suit developed by Neo Zeon after the First Neo Zeon War. The Varguil was one of several prototype units connected to the development of Neo Zeon leader Char Aznable’s MSN-04 Sazabi. The Varguil’s speed and maneuverability were superior to other experimental units. However, while the Sazabi and the MSN-03 Jagd Doga utilized newer psychoframe technology, the Varguil used a standard psycommu system. Because of the difference in performance, the suit did not meet Char's requirements and was considered a failure. Also, despite the psycommu system being developed by Neo Zeon, it proved incompatible with Cyber Newtypes. The Varguil’s operational time could be lengthened by attaching a pair of propellant tanks to the funnel rack. The suit was armed with six funnels, which were similar to the AMX-004 Qubeley’s, but larger and featuring improved charging capacity. Other armaments included a beam rifle with grenade launcher, a long rifle and a beam tomahawk/saber. In UC 0092, the Varguil was assigned to Cyber Newtype pilot Agos Lagarto and stationed aboard the Atalante 3. The Varguil was later remodeled by incorporating the head and psycommu weapons of the MRX-013-3 Psycho Gundam Mk-IV G-Doors, and was later repainted and redesignated as the AMS-123X-X Moon Gundam.
