Technical and Historical Notes

Following the end of the Bloody Valentine War, the Junius Treaty placed restrictions on the mobile suit forces of both sides. With a new focus placed on quality over quantity, ZAFT developed a New Millennium series of mobile suits, including the ZGMF-1000 ZAKU Warrior and the ZGMF-1001 ZAKU Phantom. Whereas the ZAKU Warrior was meant for regular pilots, the ZAKU Phantom was reserved for aces and commanders. The ZAKU Phantom was equipped with two spiked shields, each of which housed a beam tomahawk. The ZAKU Phantom was also armed with four grenades and a beam rifle, but its armament could be further specialized through the use of interchangeable Wizard packs. These Wizard packs were also compatible with the ZAKU Warrior. Like the ZAKU Warrior, many ZAKU Phantoms featured custom paint jobs by their respective pilots.
