Technical and Historical Notes

Throughout the course of the Bloody Valentine War, ZAFT created several amphibious mobile suit designs. Instead of creating a dedicated amphibious suit, the Earth Alliance modified the design of the GAT-X252 Forbidden Gundam into the GAT-X255 Forbidden Blue. Like the original Forbidden Gundam, the Forbidden Blue was equipped with Trans-Phase armor, which activated upon impact to conserve energy. It was also equipped with the same "Geschmeidig Panzer" energy deflection armor, which it used to move through water and counteract water pressure. However, because the Forbidden Blue relied on this system, it would be crushed if it lost power in deep water, earning it the nickname "Forbidden Coffin." That design error was later corrected in two other units, the GAT-706S Deep Forbidden and GAT-707E Forbidden Vortex. The Forbidden Blue carried a variety of sensor and sonar systems, including a tail equipped with a long-range antenna, sensor array and towing canister. Most of the original Forbidden Gundam's armaments were replaced with new weapons designed for underwater use. The Forbidden Blue mounted a phonon maser cannon, two pairs of shield-mounted combat spikes, head-mounted CIWS guns, torpedo launchers, a pair of arm machine guns and a trident. The Forbidden Blue was tested by ace pilot Jane Houston. After the war, Jane was sent to South America to fight her former lover, Alliance defector Edward Harrelson. However, after a brief fight with Edward's GAT-X133 Sword Calamity, the two reconciled.
