Technical and Historical Notes

The VF-9 Cutlass was a light variable fighter manufactured by General Galaxy, a company formed in 2017 by the merger of OTEC Co. with several other companies. Conceived of as an inexpensive fighter with air superiority in an atmosphere, the VF-9 underwent test flights in 2021 with ace pilot Milia Fallyna Jenius of the Dancing Skull Squadron. The VF-9's armaments included a Mauler beam gun turret and a 35mm Gatling gun pod. After demonstrating maneuverability superior to the VF-4 Lightning III, the VF-9 became a bestseller with colony planet defense forces. The VF-9 was produced by General Galaxy from 2022 to 2029 in two variants: the standard A-type and an E-type. In 2058, a VF-9E was used by a civilian pilot for the Vanquish Race aboard the Macross Frontier emigrant fleet.
