Technical and Historical Notes

The West Point class was a U.N. Spacy training and command ship used in long-distance colonization fleets. Named for the famed American military academy on Earth, it was equipped with facilities for training new pilots, including flight simulators. West Point ships also replenished military supplies and developed new weapons. In the absence of the fleet's lead colonization ship, the West Point would serve as the U.N. Spacy command center. West Point ships were armed with many anti-aircraft missile launchers and laser phalanxes, but they also relied on a docked Uraga space carrier for defense. When the Macross 7 fleet launched in 2038, one of its core ships was the Beginhill, which was put to considerable use during the Protodeviln War of 2045-6.
