Technical and Historical Notes

The VF-1S Valkyrie was a variant of the VF-1A manufactured by Northrom for use by U.N. Spacy. Compared the VF-1A, the VF-1S utilized a different head design with four anti-aircraft laser cannons. Additionally, it featured enhanced engines with improved thrust. The VF-1S variant was typically assigned to commanders and squadron leaders, such as Roy Focker of the Skull Squadron stationed aboard the Macross. After Roy was killed in action during Space War I, his VF-1S was inherited by his friend and protege, Hikaru Ichijyo. Hikaru continued to use the VF-1S through 2012, when he switched to the next generation VF-4 Lightning III.
