Technical and Historical Notes

The Medium-Scale Gun Destroyer was smaller that most Zentradi battleships, but it packed a punch. The destroyer’s entire front half split open to reveal its powerful heavy converging beam cannon. The destroyer’s other armaments included guided beam cannons and anti-ship/aircraft missile launchers. During the last battle of Space War I in February 2010, many Gun Destroyers from the Bodol Main Fleet participated in the bombardment of Earth’s surface, which nearly resulted in the annihilation of the human race. In January 2012, Kamjin Kravshera powered up a Gun Destroyer hiding in one of Earth’s forest and intended to destroy the Macross before leaving the planet behind. In what was later known as the Defensive Battle of Macross City, both ships traded fire and damaged each other in the skies above the city. Unable to destroy the Macross outright, Kamjin performed a suicide attack and slammed his Gun Destroyer into his target, inflicting heavy damage.
