The MF-GL-73U Gashlan was the personal unit of Manjero, a member of Le Cain’s elite (and bloodthirsty) Demon Squad. Since Mangello’s fighting style favored jumping onto an opponent’s back for close-in attacks, this preference was reflected in the Gashlan’s design. The Gashlan’s feet were equipped with claws that allowed it to clamp onto an enemy SPT after jumping on it. At this close range, Mangello often used the drill-like hard cone to damage the unit or the squeeze arm to crush the cockpit. The Gashlan was also equipped with a pair of chest vulcans and could carry a lasered gun. The Gashlan received two upgrades after its initial deployment on Earth. Tasked with destroying Eiji Asuka’s SPT-LZ-00X Layzner, Mangello was given a new (and detachable) shoulder-mounted cannon. Later, a Gradosian researcher named Dr. Nizon came to Earth to test a prototype V-MAX attachment for mass production. However, due to Le Cain’s unrealistic turnaround time for implementation, Nizon secretly rigged the V-MAX attachment as a suicide unit. As a result, the Gashlan exploded in battle over the skies of New York, killing Mangello.
