In a.t.b. 2010, the Holy Britannian Empire took humanoid mobile weapons from the realm of fiction to real-world fact when they fielded the RPI-11 Glasgow, the first military Knightmare Frame. In the face of such a weapon, the other major nations of the world realized that they had to match Britannia’s new weapons or perish. Eight years after the Glasgow, the democratic Europia United fielded its own Knightmare Frame, the Mk3-E2E8 Panzer Hummel. While most Britannian Knightmares focused on close combat, the Panzer Hummel was a long-range machine, sporting cannons in place of arms and mounting machine guns and slash harkens on the hips. Though badly outdated, the Panzer Hummel was capable of holding the El Alamein line during the brief war between Britannia and the E.U., until the intervention of Knight of Seven Suzaku Kururugi. Some months later, several E.U. nations joined the United Federation of Nations, adding the Panzer Hummel to the already burgeoning ranks of the UFN’s military division, the Order of the Black Knights.
