The MP-X86 Mobile Pod [Primrose] was an emergency escape pod developed for use by the RX-121 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel], based on research and development conducted by the Confeito technical headquarters after Wes Murphy’s Hazel was heavily damaged in combat with Zeon remnants. Although it resembled the Core Block System of the RX-78-2 Gundam, the Primrose functioned purely as an escape system, unlike the docking and separation of the Core Block. As a result, it could not dock under its own power once separation was performed. But despite its simplicity, the Primrose was capable of independent flight, unlike the ejection pods installed in ordinary mobile suits, so the pilot’s chances of survival were dramatically increased. When equipped with a Hazel backpack and optional armament, it could also demonstrate performance surpassing that of the average space fighter, and this extensibility meant it could not be dismissed as merely an emergency escape pod.

Although the Primrose was developed as an emergency escape pod for the Hazel, because it had the same kind of cockpit as a mobile suit and could be equipped with optional armament thanks to its high extensibility, it could also serve as a core unit for various parts. The Primrose could use the Hazel’s enhancement backpack as a propulsion device, enabling it to carry almost all of the Hazel’s optional weapons, and when equipped with enhancement parts like the FF-X29A G-Parts [Hrdudu] it could function as a high-performance support machine. Although this was a deviation from the Primrose’s original role, the engineers at Confeito, preferring to leave no possibility unexplored, prepared various functional extension plans. It was reported that some of these plans were used in combat by the Murphy team.

The Primrose could be equipped with option binders that permitted the attachment of weapons such as mega particle cannons and missile pods. These option binders not only functioned as extension joints, but also contained attitude control thrusters. The Primrose’s missile pod contained chaff dispensers and a dual micro-missile launcher with a total of 12 rounds. Its prototype mega particle cannon had an open barrel like that of the later RX-93 v Gundam‘s fin funnels, and the arm that connected it to the Primrose contained a winch mechanism that allowed the mega particle cannon to function as a wire-guided winch unit. The basic configuration of the Primrose included the Hazel’s backpack and movable booster pod, one missile pod, and one mega particle cannon. Type 2 armament was a defensive configuration equipped with the RX-121-2A Gundam TR-1 [Advanced Hazel] multi connector pod, two shield boosters, and two missile pods. Type 3 armament was a heavily armed configuration with a tri booster unit and two mega particle cannons. Type 4 armament was equipped with a Hrdudu and resembled a Core Booster. Another configuration was equipped with an FF-X29A G-Parts [Hrdudu II] and two mega particle cannons attached to multi arm units.
