During the Solar Power Wars, the Human Reform League lagged behind the other factions in developing a space use mobile suit. As the war intensified, the MSJ-06II-E Tieren Space Type was designed as a replacement for the space use mobile armor MAJ-S08 Xiaoshou. Like the MSJ-06II-A Tieren Ground Type, the Space Type was used by HRL for over 10 years and had undergone several minor revisions. Although some of its functions were now obsolete, the technology used had excellent reliability and could be easily repaired when a malfunction occurred. Despite the large differences between the piloting method of ground use suits and space use suits, compared to the other factions’ pilots, the HRL’s pilots could get used to the Space Type’s control after switching from a ground type suit twice as fast or even more due to the Tieren series’ standardized control system.

The leg-mounted propellant tanks were filled with water and could be used as a shield replacement. Normally, each leg was fitted with one tank, but during long distance travelling, multiple connected tanks were used. The Space Type’s smoothbore gun was a space use version of the Ground Type’s. The pair of carbon blades on its sides were made of super hard carbon and also served as heat sinks. The carbon wire and carbon net equipment used against Celestial Being during the Gundam capture operation were made of E-carbon. The HRL also produced a commander variant, the MSJ-06II-ET.
