The MSN-001M Mega-Shiki was a custom Gunpla built by Minato Sakai as a commission for team G-Master’s Shunsuke Sudou. It was based on the MSN-00100 Hyaku-Shiki from the 1985-86 anime TV series Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. The Mega-Shiki was customized through the addition of a backpack called the Mega Ride Launcher that was similar to Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ’s FXA-08R Mega Rider. The unit functioned as the Mega-Shiki’s propulsion device and main armament, both in its docked and undocked forms. The Mega-Shiki’s other armaments included vulcan guns, a beam rifle and beam swords. Sudou commissioned the Mega-Shiki from Sakai because he lost confidence in his building skills, but after G-Master was eliminated during the qualifier rounds of the 13th Gunpla Battle Japanese U-19 Championship, Sudou decided to try building again and later constructed the MSN-001G Gilla-Shiki.
