Before the outbreak of the Gryps War, the AEUG resistance group commissioned Anaheim Electronics to develop high-performance mobile suits for use in a military confrontation with the Titans. Anaheim responded with several proposals, including a plan for the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam, a transformable mobile suit that could change into a Waverider form. The plan was eventually put into motion under the name Project Zeta, and testing of this experimental machine began just after the Jaburo landing operation.
