The NMX-004 Qubeley Papillon was a custom Gunpla built by the Flana Institute for use by Team Nemesis’ Aila Jyrkiäinen. It was based on the AMX-004 Qubeley from the 1985-86 anime TV series Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. Nemesis, funded by the wealthy Josef Kankaansyrjä, had but one goal: win a Gunpla Battle world tournament for Josef’s grandson, Lucas. As such, Josef’s massive wealth was dedicated to the cause of winning by any means necessary, including the use of the unique (and tournament-illegal) Embody System. A special pilot suit worn by Aila transmitted her brainwaves and allowed for improved performance of the Gunpla, giving her a nearly insurmountable advantage over all opponents. This advantage was against the rules of Gunpla Battle, but due to the suit responding only to Aila, it was passed off as just cosplay. The Qubeley Papillon’s armaments included a lance bit, beam sabers/guns and multiple funnels. Aila met her match against Reiji’s GAT-X105B/ST Star Build Strike Gundam and fell in love with him during the course of the world tournament. After leaving Nemesis, Aila decided to build her own Gunpla and created the AC-01 Miss Sazabi. Meanwhile, the scheming Chairman Mashita of PPSE used the Embody System as part of the PPGN-001 Gundam Exia Dark Matter in his final gambit to defeat Reiji, the prince of Arian.
