The Northampton class stealth frigate was the workhorse warship deployed by U.N. Spacy to migrant fleets and on planetary defense duty. The Northampton could accommodate up to 37 variable fighters, which were deployed from concealed launch bays. The Northampton‘s armaments included anti-ship/aircraft beam guns, anti-aircraft laser guns, an anti-ship missile system and more. In 2045, a variant featuring Zentradi design elements was used by the all-Zentradi Macross 5 emigrant fleet. Ships used in 2059 by New U.N. Spacy featured a different set of armaments, including beam gun turrets, twin beam CIWS and multiple anti-ship missile launchers. The Northampton class was the most widely produced ship in service with New U.N. Spacy and was still active in 2067.
