A hover van transports White, Wesley, Shaya, Manisha and Leeg to a Chiram science facility where the space-time transformation device is under construction. Manisha asks what the device’s function is, and a Chiram scientist explains that it’s a protection capsule for when they enter the Great Singularity. White tells Shaya that he’s envious of the Emaan not only having advanced technology, but also for having beautiful women like her. On the return trip to the Glomar, Manisha warns Shaya to be cautious around White given what he’s done to the Emaan in the past. Olson works on maintenance for Orguss II while Kei mopes over Mimsy being gone for five days. Olson tells Kei that it’d be better for him if Mimsy doesn’t return so that he can focus on saving the planet. Kei is surprised to see Mome so soon and asks if she found Mimsy, but she explains that she had to return due to a dimensional shift. She says that Mimsy might not come back and runs off. Kei goes looking for her and runs into Maaie and Lieea, who mention that Captain is depressed because they’re fighting the Mu now. Kei finds Mome and tells her that she’s the only one he can trust to find and bring back Mimsy. Feeling new motivation, Mome takes off in a Drifand Dee. With Mu forces detected, Wesley calls Shaya and states that they should work together. Olson argues with Kei and tries to stop him from running after Mimsy. Kei yells at Olson and says he doesn’t care about the planet right now because Mimsy and Mome more important. Olson asks if that’s how he really feels, so Kei relents. Mome spots a battle taking place near Mimsy’s hotel and presses on. At the hotel, the Counselor informs Mimsy that her mother is dead and was calling her name until the end. Mome destroys several Mu robots in the city and lands at the hotel, where the Counselor tries to stop her from seeing Mimsy. However, Mimsy hears them arguing and goes outside to see Mome. Mome explains that Kei wants Mimsy to come back because he doesn’t know how to live without her, but the Counselor insists she return home for the funeral. Mimsy decides to return to the Glomar and asks the Counselor to take care of things for her.
Elsewhere, Mu robots invade a Chiram city and begin attacking civilians indiscriminately. The Emaan and Chiram take off and head for the city to fight the Mu. The Emaan fleet deploys multiple Deemoras, some of which are destroyed by the Mu. White tells Wesley to let the Emaan take point so that it reduces their numbers. As the Emaan ships fly over the city, the Mu robots warp away. Kei tries to punch Olson and misses, which results in him getting knocked down. Olson tells Kei that if he could repair the planet by himself, he would. He tells Kei that he has to stay because they have work to do. White calls Shaya and tells her that he’s deployed reinforcements to help them the next time the Mu show up. Several Mu warp in behind Mimsy’s Drifand Dee and open fire, destroying her cannon. Shaya announces that the Mu have returned and tells Kei that a plane is under attack. Kei realizes that it must be Mimsy and Mome. He runs into Olson and sucker punches him before taking off in Orguss. Olson calls Athena and asks her to bring Kei back to the Glomar, or at least protect him. Shaya asks Manisha to send reinforcements to protect Kei, but they suddenly come under attack from the Mu. Their research lab is also under attack, so Manisha decides to head there. The Emaan ships launch their Deemoras, and Kei attacks the Mu. The Drifand Dee is damaged, but he catches it in Orguss‘ hands. Athena arrives in her Nikick and tells Kei to fall back while she fights the Mu. Reinforcements arrive and destroy most of the Mu, but some warp away. Olson asks Athena if she’s ok, and she tells him she didn’t know the Mu could warp around. On the Glomar, Kei thanks Mome for bringing Mimsy back, which cheers her up. Mimsy tells Kei that she’s happy because his words helped her make her decision. She asks if he’ll visit her mother’s grave when everything is over, and he says that he will.
The story comes to a standstill in this episode, which doesn’t move anything forward. If you expected Kei to be mopey and do something stupid this episode because of Mimsy’s departure, you wont be disappointed. No matter how many times Olson reminds him of the gravity of their responsibility, Kei just can’t stay focused on the task at hand. It’s really tiresome how the writers keep coming back to this situation over and over again, because it makes Kei seem indecisive and weak. His ambivalence is understandable early on, but not when the series is almost over. Plus, he impulsively takes off to rescue Mimsy and Mome, but neither of them would’ve been in danger in the first place if he hadn’t tried to bring Mimsy back to the ship. On another front, the Mu start using warp attacks, which makes them even more dangerous since they can appear or disappear in the blink of an eye. We also see White putting on a charm offensive with Shaya, although secretly he wants the Emaan to thin out their numbers while fighting the Mu. This sort of treachery can’t stay concealed for long.
