During the great war a thousand years ago that nearly destroyed Earth, one of the warring factions created a prototype maneuver slave, the Original Garland. The Original Garland’s data became the basis for several Garland iterations over the next thousand years, most recently the E=X Garland. The Original Garland was housed at Eden City’s E=X Tower, but its technicians were unable to completely determine its abilities. Unlike other machine soldiers that used motorcycle controls in their cockpits, the Original Garland used a trackball control system. The Original Garland’s armaments included a pair of shoulder-mounted missile launchers, a beam gun and a powerful chest-mounted beam cannon that could wipe out several machine soldiers with one blast. During Orange’s rebellion, E=X bureau director Yacob Halm used the Original Garland to single-handedly fight off Orange’s Hargan III units. At the battle’s end, Yacob and the Original Garland were destroyed by Eiji Takanaka’s E=X Garland.
