

Patlabor 2 the Movie is a theatrical film released in Japan in 1993. It is a sequel to the 1989 film Patlabor the Movie. All five members of HEADGEAR served as creative staff on the film, and Kenji Kawai returned to provide the soundtrack. Set in 2002, the movie focuses one the former members of SV2, who have all gone their separate ways since the first film. However, the team is brought back together by a series of mysterious incidents precipitating a coup d’etat. Patlabor 2 was followed in 2001 by an interquel, WXIII: Patlabor the Movie 3. The movie was previously released on home video in North America by Manga Entertainment and Bandai Visual USA, but it has since been re-released by Sentai Filmworks’ Maiden Japan label.
