Planetes (TV series)

Planetes is a TV series that aired in Japan from 2003-2004 and is an adaptation of Makoto Yukimura’s manga of the same name. Produced by Sunrise, the series’ staff includes director Goro Taniguchi, writer Ichiro Okouchi, mechanical designers Seiichi Nakatani and Takeshi Takakura, character designer Yuriko Chiba and composer Kotaro Nakagawa. Set in 2075, the series focuses on Hachirota Hoshino and Tanabe Ai, two members of a Debris Section crew dedicated to clearing away hazardous space debris. The series aired in North America in 2008 on ImaginAsian TV and was released on home video by Bandai Entertainment. The series was re-released in 2024 by Crunchyroll.
