Psybuster Ep. 22: Zamjeed

0
Summary

Masaki watches the moon when Lyune joins him. He says the color of the moon disturbs him, but Lyune says it looks normal to her. She wonders if everyone form La Guias can notice, and Masaki explains how he was raised by Zeora. Lyune says she is similar, being raised by a housemother when her real mother died. Lyune asks which one of Masaki’s parents died, but he says he doesn’t know. He says he’s not really from La Guias and doesn’t know where he was born. People try to escape from DC HQ, but they’re gunned downed. Mechanics work on building another Granzon and are terrified when Saphine walks by. She looks at two completed Granzons and congratulates the mechanics. Izaki informs Ken and the others about the Granzon’s mass production. An earthquake hits and Masaki says the Earth’s axis has become unstable. They realize that if more Granzons use their MBH cannons, doomsday will come sooner. Lyune suggests going to DC and finishing things, but Ken says they can’t make any careless moves. Lyune leaves and Mizuki notes that she’s been acting strange since she learned Shu killed Dr. Frank. Ken says Lyune might storm DC herself, so they need to keep an eye on her. Masaki asks Mizuki to go to La Guias with him to see if she could be the pilot of the final elemental lord. Mizuki is unsure, but Ken tells her to be more confident. Mizuki agrees, saying if a loser like Ken can pilot one, so can she. When Mizuki and Masaki are about to leave, Ken suggests he take her instead while Masaki guards the base. Sayuri asks if he’s jealous, but Ken denies it and tells Masaki and Mizuki to leave already. Shu and Saphine pilot a Granzon and Saphine comments that the equipment is better than the first one. A news helicopter films them, so they shoot it down with the MBH cannon. When they do, Jaifer is hit with turbulence while it travels to La Guias. They arrive safely and Mizuki says they don’t have a moment to lose.

Mizuki stands in front of the stone tablets, but none of the spirits choose her. She wonders what she’ll tell everyone when they get back and Masaki puts his arm around her. Lyune arrives at DC HQ in the Balcione and is met by Izaki. Lyune asks to see Shu so she can challenge him to a duel. Shu accepts the challenge. Masaki and Mizuki return with bad news, but Ken also tells them Lyune is missing. Balcione and Granzon face off. Izaki tries to stop them but his RT is held back by a Prescion. Lyune fires her electromagnetic cannon but Granzon dodges and fires its missiles. The missiles destroy Balcione’s leg. Granzon then shoots off its arm and hits it with more missiles. Even though Balcione is nearly destroyed, Lyune still tries to fight back, saying all she has is the DC her father left her. Granzon is about to finish her off, but the elemental lords arrive and save her. Lyune is touched that they came to save her. Zeora says it’s time for all four elemental lords to awaken. Balcione gets hit again, but Zamjeed appears and takes Lyune onboard. Zamjeed attacks Granzon with a fissure, which slices off its right limbs. Lyune is surprised to see Saphine leaving the Granzon and curses Shu. In his office, Shu throws papers around. Mizuki is surprised to learn Lyune was chosen by Zamjeed, but congratulates her anyway. Lyune just walks away but Masaki goes after her. She says she has no intention of piloting Zamjeed, but Masaki notes she is the one chosen by the spirits. He says he believes she will pilot Zamjeed and Lyune asks why he cares since he wasn’t born on La Guias. He says he still wants to protect those important to him. Lyune says she’ll get revenge her own way using Balcione.

Commentary

And this episode proves why you shouldn’t listen to my logic. I would have never though Lyune would end up getting Zamjeed, but she does. Of course she wants nothing to do with it, insisting on sticking with the Balcione despite the fact that it’s completely useless and totally trashed. Despite all the focus given to her in previous episodes, she actually hasn’t changed much at all. She’s totally obsessed with avenging her father and taking back DC. This kind of attitude is sure to cost her big time eventually. Ken gets jealous of Masaki’s relationship with Mizuki, and by the looks of things, he has good reason to worry. In other news, the Granzon is being mass produced. Surely the elemental lords will be finished in no time. Or not.
