Summary

Alcyone celebrates the fact she can now go against the Knights as Umi falls. Fuu uses her wind to save Umi as Clef and the others watch from the castle. Caldina asks Ascot about the monster Alcyone is riding, but even he doesn’t recognize it. Clef thinks that it’s not from Cephiro. Hikaru asks Alcyone why she’s attacking them when the war is over, but Alcyone says her humiliation at their hands will never disappear. Alcyone attacks Hikaru. The guys from Autozam watch on, Eagle musing that the voice he heard from the Rune-God before belonged to a girl. Zazu is very interested and hopes she meets his preferences. Eagle points out that people of Cephiro’s looks might not match their ages, and Zazu remembers Lantis saying something like that. Eagle looks sad at the mention of Lantis but Geo comforts him. He’s not too keen on invading but has decided to stay by Eagle’s side. Zazu explains he loves Eagle because he pilots the FTO so well and just wants to be his mechanic. Hikaru continues to block Alcyone’s attacks until Umi and Fuu return. Hikaru begs Alcyone to join the others at the castle, but Alcyone just laughs and appears to be possessed.

The being mocks the girls for fighting when there is only despair in the future. Hikaru recognizes the voice from her dream. The voice says everything will die and become hers. Hikaru sees a vision of a second person who identifies herself as Nova. She claims to have been born for Hikaru and that soon they will meet. Alcyone and the one possessing her vanish and the girls fly off. Ferio asks Clef about what he said about the monster, but Clef isn’t sure. Primera confirms it’s not from Cephiro because it smells different. Mokona agrees and chases after her. Clef wonders what the aura around Alcyone was. The Knights head to the NSX. Clef telepathically asks Lantis if he knows what the evil aura was, but Lantis doesn’t know because he was unable to track it. Clef takes note that even some one as skilled as Lantis couldn’t track it, but Lantis insists he’s nowhere near his brother’s level. Clef says he never expected Lantis to leave Cephiro and wonders if he came back on Autozam’s orders. The FTO stands on the deck of the NSX and the girls wonder if it’s a trap. Hikaru doesn’t think they can talk it over, but refuses to do anything without knowing Eagle’s motives. The Rune-Gods land on the ship and Zazu reports that they’re not machines, but are actually alive. The girls leave the Rune-Gods and Eagle returns the gesture. Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu introduce themselves and ask about Eagle’s reason for invading. Eagle asks what they want to do with Cephiro and Hikaru says they want to protect it. Eagle explains that he wants the power of the Pillar system itself. A voice from the sky objects and a giant dragon-shaped ship appears. Onboard a girl declares that she will be the new Pillar.

Commentary

So Alcyone is now a puppet of some evil force, but other than letting us know she exists she doesn’t accomplish anything before buggering off. Hikaru has a vision of Nova, but the scene is so brief it most certainly doesn’t deserve to be the namesake of the episode. The real meat of the episode is getting to know the gang from Autozam a bit better. Despite being an invader Eagle seems to be a pretty decent guy and his subordinates are with him purely out of respect. They have a history with Lantis and from Eagle’s reaction it appears to be a complicated one. Autozam wants the Pillar system for its power, but I think there’s a bit more to it than that. It won’t be easy for them to get, especially now that a new challenger has appeared.
